Caterham will unveil its 2014 Formula 1 car on the morning of the opening winter test at Jerez.

The team joins Mercedes in holding a roll-out immediately prior to the start of testing in Spain on January 28.

Caterham's announcement confirms that its new chassis will be ready for the first test.

Earlier this week Lotus revealed that it would not run its car until the Bahrain tests in February.

Apart from Caterham and Mercedes, the only other F1 team to announce its 2014 launch plans so far is McLaren, which is doing an online unveiling on January 24.

Caterham will retain Renault power for 2014, but has yet to reveal its driver line-up.

I liked the cars. They said they would be ugly due to many regulation changes, but I found the transition between the 2008 and 2009 seasons had a bigger impact on the look of the cars.

Jerez Test 2014, Day One: F1's new V6s era begins with the sound of silence Kimi Raikkonen ends the day on top of the timesheets; Lewis Hamilton crashes out; Sebastian Vettel completes only three laps in new Red Bull; McLaren don't run at all

...

F1's brave new world of turbo engines began with a bang and whimper at Jerez as the first day of 2014 winter testing fell flat with very limited running and Lewis Hamilton crashing out after a high-speed front-wing failure on his new Mercedes.

Hamilton's shuddering exit into the barriers at Turn One after 18 laps was the lone incident of note on a day that saw the eerie sound of silence descend over the Jerez circuit and accounted for less than a 100 laps with only six drivers completing a timed run.

French doctors work to bring Schumacher out of coma

Michael Schumacher's sedation is being reduced to allow the "waking up process" to start, his manager says.

Bringing the Formula 1 legend out of his coma could take a long time, Sabine Kehm said in a statement.

Schumacher suffered a severe head injury in a skiing accident in the French Alps on 29 December.

He was put into a medically induced coma by his doctors at a clinic in Grenoble after operations to remove blood clots from his brain.

Doctors have kept the 45-year-old German asleep to help reduce the swelling.

Ms Kehm was approached by the media for comment on Schumacher's condition on Wednesday - exactly a month after his crash. She said his condition remained "stable".

In her statement on Thursday, she said it had been agreed to communicate details of his sedation "only once this process was consolidated".
