I completely understand what you are saying. I am happy for my votes to not be counted. I will return next year to vote and hopefully present a logo if inspiration strikes.

NZL.

By the way my logo is Q. :)

Very mature response :) Also you have a great logo! Don't leave us til next December, hang around and chat and post throughout 2014 :D

The logo is inspired by a famous painting in Canada, The Jack Pine :)

Thank you so much!

WOOPS: TECHNICAL SCREW-UP MALFUNCTION!!!!!!

Disregard Logo G. I won't count any votes for it. I doubled up on USAandItalia/Anthony in the final list. Thanks for pointing that out Anthony! I had the old name on my checklist entered with your original, and didn't twig I guess because your following logos seemed a different style.

I see you voted fo G before I realised my f**k-up. You can have an extra vote to make up from it (just post your selection here) if you want. But you're the only one who gets that. I won't count any other G votes.

Yea...I'd fall into that category and did it after you f**k up haha. And I didn't read thru the thread past the rules before voting. Is it possible to get another one?

Even if someone made multiple accounts to get extra votes, they will get caught out because the 2 or whatever number accounts would have the same IP address.

B, E, L, M, N. Looks like it'll be a tossup between E & N. When does Bangkok open Rols, Palette asked me in a status update, I guess it starts after we've crowned our Toronto winner.

Straight after Toronto, which should probably be settled by the end of the weekend. Anyone know any Thai pop acts worth booking for the bangkok announcements?

It was my stuff-up, but I think I'll have to say no to you and CAF on that one. Anyway, you've both used votes for others, and there's no requirement everyone has to do five votes anyway.

I'll also have to discount Davey's vote for his own logo - the rest of his choices are valid, though.

I hope I'm not suspicious, Danny? I may've joined for the contest but I've been a reader for much longer. I fully intend to continue to contribute. :P

I trust in Rols good sense about everything

thoughts on toronto, in NO order:

P: puppy. pee-yew, that stunk. remember when you used to make fun of me for my sendai logo? well, i think you just lost your room to talk. it looks like if you asked a 3 year old to draw a dinosaur with their feet and they drew a giant head and no body because they haven't mastered proportions yet. scratch that, it looks worse. not going to vote for it. or maybe i will. ok, i will.

E: one of two astonishing efforts from danny this year, making me wonder if he outsourced the assignment to someone with more talent, or if he's begun developing some over the past 2 years. (does this mean two years from now he might actually start learning english too?) here's the thing about danny as opposed to say the twins. danny occasionally has good ideas executed very marginally (last year’s paris/ostersund entries were flirty, fun scrawls that could have worked in more capable hands but ultimately didn't; rio's toothpaste win's still a headscratcher to me). the twins sometimes have rather marginal ideas (sometimes not) always executed impeccably. but danny really pulled it out with this toronto logo. i feel the movement, the fluidity, the beautiful but frigid sensation of pushing your nose up against the icy backseat window in the toasty heat of your parents' car after a frost has settled on the windows, and staring at the tiny jagged crystals glinting in the bright cloudless sky on the other side. you can see them in the maple leaf if you look. a masterful, visionary effort from a much-improved designer, but i don't think it should win. also, i’m not voting for it because he’s being insecure and childish about the nzl affair. grow up, danny. you never had a shot at winning toronto anyway.

N: what could be better than a masterful, visionary effort?? how about a really, really fucking good logo, that's what. this is masterful in a different way. while it's been pointed out to us that it may have been inspired by the gold coast 2018 logo, so not technically visionary, it's better than that logo, and by a wide margin. (if you can take someone else's good concept and make it twice as good, i have to believe there's a six figure ad job waiting for you somewhere in new york). it's also masterful in approachability. everyone's going to love this logo and we all know it. i didn't think it was possible to use the CN tower in the same way that everyone used the eiffel tower last year, but this logo proves me wrong. and did you get that the 2nd T in toronto is supposed to be the maple leaf stem??? incredible. in a competition defined by the use of the letter T and the maple leaf to represent the city, this logo incorporates both elements PLUS the CN tower and does it very successfully. i like the concept, but i'm not in love with the reflection in the water, but regardless this is the clear, hands-down winner by a long shot, i'm afraid. simply brilliant. but as we all know, if toronto does bid for an olympics, they'll never pick something this good. they should be so lucky. aismanggo, i'm going to end this critique by quoting anthony: "Hi. Can I be you please?"

G: man, i’m kicking myself that i already used up my whole baseball-jersey spiel in the last thread because that’s all i’m seeing. i don’t really have anything else to add. but the logo doesn’t really say anything winter olympics-y to me as much as, say, moderately priced chain eatery along canadian interstates with laminated menus and $5 eggs-and-canadian bacon breakfasts with unlimited biscuits and white gravy, which is unnatural and gross but that you eat anyway because biscuits plain are too gluey. still voting for it though.

M: the bad thing about this logo is that rols put it right next to N so you can’t help but compare the two. if it had been put somewhere else, i might have an easier time with it. it looks like how i thought my room was going to look when i was 13 and bought a blue-green glass bulb with brilliant diamond patterns on it at the boardwalk in venice beach, but in reality it just bathes the whole room in this ugly green that made it hard to see anything so i didn’t keep it in very long. but congratulations, you get a vote because i can’t vote for danny and i don’t like gradients so i can’t vote for nzl. also, i keep seeing hidden stars of david. very illuminati, so well played. you should get baron’s vote because he seems to think that there’s some running illuminati joke on this board that he alone must uphold about numbers and vowels and imaginary patterns that nobody gets but everyone just humors because, why not and it’s just not worth it and yes baron it’s um kind of interesting that tokyo and toronto both have a lot of O’s and, um okay, i guess that, yeah, if you add numerical value of the second-to-last letter in the past four hosts it does equal 66, i suppose, for whatever it’s worth to you, sure. that’s really quite interesting now that you mention it. ha ha ha.

I understand all of your concerns. Although I am genuine I know that some other accounts created in these circumstances may not be so.

Anyway, while I'm here are there any other major competitions on here throughout the year or is this the only one. I have seen the full "fantasy" Olympic bid books from a number of years ago but nothing else like that over the past year. I would really enjoy entering competitions like that, maybe with a bit less detail though.

I thank all of you for your comments.

NZL.

there's the sorta annual inappropriate bid contest, too. i wouldn't be surprised if there's one of those later this year. or not. or maybe never again. or maybe six times this year. whatever's more inappropriate. very through the looking glass.

For me, D M and N were both shoo-ins. All three were great and I'd be willing to bet they'll win the overall Toronto 26 comp.

D is interesting and unique, M is fresh and sharp, whilst N is a fantastic logo, with a great deal of effort - even though I had originally flagged that I thought it could be too close to the bone, in terms of its similarities to the GC18 logo, but I can't deny that it is probably the highest quality of all logos.

In picking the last two, Q and J, it was pretty marginal with about three other entries being fantastic also - so it was close. Lots of great entries, so I really was clutching at straws. Well done to everyone, really is a lot of talent on here - certainly more than I can say for myself!!

I've noticed that D isn't doing as well as I thought - come on everyone! it is an awesome logo - the stylised T, with those wonderful Olympic colours in brush strokes - with the abstract figure of a skiier in the T - its clever, colourful and sharp, and unique with not a single maple leaf or snowflake in sight!
