I have to agree with you in all of those respects. I've come across the issue of translucency while trying to create a poster. I've come up with a simple workaround of applying a white enlarged logo behind it. Unfortunately it still doesn't sit right with me. Here's an example:

I think I might try reworking the logo to solve this problem. What do y'all think?

I think it's one of the strongest Toronto submissions so far. I like the ice crystal/maple leaf approach. My only hesitation is the difference in weight between the Olympic rings and the Toronto 2026. It doesn't feel quite balanced. Toronto 2026 almost certainly needs to be slightly heavier. Perhaps it would help to render the rings in one of those icy blue green shades? I'm not sure. Improve the balance of rings and word mark. That's my only critique. This one and Victor Mata's are my favorites for Toronto so far.

Tony's work is little bit simple but well done! Lord David 's work has element of surprise to me;people are likely to use red and blue(red to express maple and blue to express snow)separately but you used them together for one maple leaf. That's fresh.

Those overlapping gradients sometimes don't work so well in b&w. There will be b&w applications.

Could I have some feedback please. Advice and good words please?

OKay u asked. Too spread out. Too many elements. It should be concise. U don't need "XXV Winter Olympic Games". The main logo graphic element & the 5 rings should take care of that. All u need is one powerful graphic element and "Toronto 2026" that's all.

Less is always more.

Why do nearly ALL the entries keep splitting "Toronto" and "2026"? They should be together and on the same line!! That's what says it all -- the time and the place where the event is happening. Step over to that professional line, people.

Hmmmm. Yeah, well, I'll rule on I like with Scotguy's original. Not gonna disallow it, but it's up to the members to decide if he's added anything original in his execution of it.

What you need to do in Inkscape is export your drawing as a PNG by clicking File>Export Bitmap, then hit the "drawing" button and click export.

Rols, however, prefers them as JPGs. So send the resulting PNG through this site.... http://www.zamzar.com/convert/png-to-jpg/

It's a bit of a pain Inkscape doesn't have a save to jpg option.

As for getting the file here postimage.org or imageshack.us are both good.

So I've done some fiddling with the logo, taking in much of the feedback provided. I now present two copies of the logo, one in B&W and a full color one. Here's a side by side picture:

Once again, any feedback is welcome.

I would deffiently choose the Colour version. It's more unique and less dull.

Much, much better font than the spidery one you had before, but imho the rings look too big now!

I'll tell you what I normally do when I make my logos....I normally take an already existing logo (Beijng or Sydney, for example) and place it on top of my logo, setting its transparency to 20%. Then I match the size of the three elements (rings, city & year, and logo) to that.

Ooh, that's a good idea. What I did in this case was just copy the rio logo and crop out the logo bit, ignoring any sizing. I'll definitely do that in the next revision. Thanks. :)

Do you think the rings should be their actual colours or the icy blue in the coloured logo?

I am really stuck on ideas for Bangkok 2028. I'm not really a good drawer so it's hard.

Whenever I'm stuck on designing something I love to look at its name. In this case, Bangkok, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon or Krungthepmahanakhon Amonrattanakosin Mahintharayutthaya Mahadilokphop Noppharatratchathaniburirom Udomratchaniwetmahasathan Amonphimanawatansathit Sakkathattiyawitsanukamprasit.

Bangkok is two words, bang meaning village by a river. Kok on the other hand is decidedly less obvious, it either comes from the word for Island or the name of one of the native plants.

The other two names, the shorter one being the first word of the longer one, is the ceremonial name of Bangkok. Translated from Sanskrit, it reads: City of angels, great city of immortals, magnificent city of the nine gems, seat of the king, city of royal palaces, home of gods incarnate, erected by Visvakarman at Indra's behest.[13]

There you go, some ideas for a logo. :)

Oh, I should also mention all of this comes from Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangkok

Thanks. I just had a brilliant idea now. Much appreciated.
