Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee presents Paralympic Program

The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee has presented the Paralympic Winter Games program. The Sochi 2014 Paralympic Games will be held from the 7 - 16 March 2014.

The Sports Program for the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games covers all competition types including ice sledge hockey, wheelchair curling, biathlon and cross-country skiing, alpine skiing and snowboarding. A total of 1,650 Paralympic athletes and team members, from more than 45 countries, will attend the Paralympic Games.

The Sochi 2014 sports program will be a record-breaking event. During the Games, 72 sets of medals will be contested in 5 different sports including cross-country skiing, biathlon, ice sledge hockey, wheelchair curling and Alpine skiing. Para-snowboard will be presented for the first time at the Paralympic Winter Games. Paralympic snowboarders will compete on the slopes of Rosa Khutor Alpine Center.

After the Paralympic Opening Ceremony on 7 March, people across Russia will have three days off in order for fans to enjoy the Games.

Ticket sales for the first Russian Paralympic Winter Games went on sale on 27 September 2013. Russian citizens and formally resident foreign nationals can purchase tickets for the Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi on the official website, www.sochi2014.com. Tickets are also available via authorized ticket resellers. A full list is available on the Sochi 2014 website.

The Paralympic competition program has been approved by International Sports Federations, the International Paralympic Committee and the Olympic Broadcasting Service, but may still undergo minor alterations. These can be followed on the official website of the Winter Games - www.sochi2014.com
