Don't count Guadalajara. The city is also in a dire economic situation and the legal mess over the Paramerican village is still ongoing. Quote
intoronto Posted March 18, 2017 Author Report Posted March 18, 2017 Looks like Lima 2019, might be the next city to withdraw? http://perureports.com/2017/03/17/more-calls-to-cancel-pan-am-games-as-floods-continue-to-hammer-peru/ Quote
LatinXTC Posted March 18, 2017 Report Posted March 18, 2017 Well if they do drop out and the US Pan Am organization is interested in hosting, might I suggest Philadelphia, New Orleans or Austin? All 3 cities have a track and field stadium that's ready to use, with some minor renovations, if any needed, I'm sure. And all of them should have enough venues to easily accommodate the smaller capacities required for a Pan Am games. Quote
Nacholympic Posted March 25, 2017 Report Posted March 25, 2017 President of Peru Pedro Pablo Kusznski said that despite natural disasters, Pan Am will continue their way... Sports don't have to do with political reasons that argued some anti Pan Am politicians... Quote
LatinXTC Posted March 27, 2017 Report Posted March 27, 2017 Are these massive floods even affecting Lima itself? Quote

intoronto Posted April 26, 2017 Author Report Posted April 26, 2017 Women's baseball and football have been dropped from the 2019 Pan Am Games program, so much for gender equality And sport climbing will not be contested. Quote

Baseball is not surprising as it will be hard enough to field a quality Peruvian mens national baseball team. But no womens football is astonishing. Quote

Therefore it makes complete sense. The sports added by the host nations were not contested at the next games. 2007- Futsal 2011- Basque Pelota 2015 - Women's baseball 2019 - Surfing (later added by the IOC to the 2020 program) and Basque pelota Quote
Sir Rols Posted June 16, 2017 Report Posted June 16, 2017 As much as I prefer animal mascots to humans, I;d go with Milco - he's at least vaguely "Incan". Otherwise, anyone but Amantis! Quote
Ikarus360 Posted June 18, 2017 Report Posted June 18, 2017 Wayqi is adorable! (Sorry but I have a soft spot for lizards). The other two....not so good, tbh. . I hope they pick him. Quote
Ikarus360 Posted June 19, 2017 Report Posted June 19, 2017 https://mascota.lima2019.pe/ Worldwide voting for the mascot has begun. They will show the results on July 26. Quote
Tatsh Posted June 20, 2017 Report Posted June 20, 2017 Honestly, i don't like any of them. But as i have to choose, i prefer Milco. And look the pictograms. Quote
zigzag Posted July 26, 2017 Report Posted July 26, 2017 From this video it seems that Milco has won the vote isn't it? Quote
Tatsh Posted July 26, 2017 Report Posted July 26, 2017 Milco has won the contest. And in the first seconds of the video, will be that the cauldron? Quote
