paul
NBC is not broadcasting the OC live at all (not even online). clslopes54, if you want live, you could try setting up a VPN or Hola to watch another country's feed. BBC or CBC. http://www.reddit.com/r/olympics/comments/1x6zbo/streaming_thread_your_one_stop_shop_for_finding/ i was just stating live times, i assume we know nbc was not doing it live
Olympian2004
I have just installed the Hola add-on for Firefox, and it works brilliantly. As soon as you open a site that has a geoblocked stream (as of BBC TV, for example) and click on the Hola symbol (a flame with a smiley in it) in your browser, it offers you the possibility to choose a VPN from the respective country, and then you can simply watch the stream in top quality (if it's offered in top quality ). Great!

illustrado
initial reaction best bits: the revolution(ussr) starting part of war and peace the carnival and the onion domes(i wanted more of that like the NHS bit in london) the russian flag raising and the parade of nations sad bits: the olympic rings. they did show a successful version after the lighting of the cauldron. worst bits: the mascots are too life like it's scary. the jellyfish doves of peace the ship bit ( i think it was entirely a non-starer) the second half of war and peace (i might need more explanation) the fireworks (we get it you have money to spend) the cauldron ( love that they went pass all the ceremonies cast but the lighting was a bit dogey. also the not seeing from the stadium might be and irate for the IOC. of course all rules were in limbo since london) DRAMA: bach ( he went all bitchy and told the heads of states that you literally spitting on the athlete's face for not coming to sochi. DRAMA!!!!) production stand point: the props and the rail system the made was beautiful. i don't see it as olympic standard but it's beautiful. i like the use of the floor projectors and films. some elements of London were there. the forming of the rings, the audience lights (the used medals instead of putting wires in but still the same concept. Disney California adventure has those for there world of color fountain show.) the pillars from war and peace (some will say it's from Beijing but i think it's from London) the little girl plot device has been done before but ok. the girl was no Nikki Webster. the constellation part was a bit jarring. it might not be by the second watching. pacing was good the camera angles were atrocious (love or hate London, they had good angels to work with.) these are initial reactions so i might mellow me reaction by the second viewing
baron-pierreIV
the camera angles were atrocious (love or hate London, they had good angels to work with.) Disagree. I think this show had some daring camera angles...never before tried...especially in the Red Revolution sequence. Very daring!! And the show had a POV; it wasn't all over the place like London. The columns are more Beijing because they are majestic props -- not the grungy smokestacks which worked for London's purposes.
menegazfelipe
I didn't like it very much... It reminded me a lot of other ceremonies. The Soviet engines reminded Sydney's Tin Simphony, only a little bit more red. The little girl reminded me of Nikki Webster. The pillars were like a mixture of London's chimneys and Beijing's pillars. Too many little, but visible, flaws... Oh, and I hate floor projections... baron-pierreIV
The best thing I can say about this show was that they made good use of the airspace above. They didn't let it go to waste unlike a certain summer ceremony which built a $25 million lake but hardly used it. Was sorry though that it wasn't a heavy ice show. nzl
That whole dreaming little girl has been done before. It wasn't very original. Also 2x as good as London, I don't think so. It's not even 4x Vancover.
nzl
I accidentally fell asleep (It was 5 am ) through some of the red scene, then I went to rewind it and accidentally changed channel and lost it. So I only got to see it going back quite fast.

nzl
Also I hope no epileptic people were watching that. The amount of flashing lights. It looked at one point as if they were just turning on and off the camera while looking at white lights.

nzl
I was more thinking of the international audience, but if it doesn't apply in Russia, it shouldn't apply anywhere. lol
