olympiaki-agones
Now with that confirmation from South Africa, plus Bach's welcome to the bidding race, I think Istanbul should wait for the sake of their projects. I do also agree Turkey should celebrate their Republic Centennial Anniversary hosting the 2024 Euro, then they get more experience and Paris just forget bidding in a while (why do some cities think the rest of the world would be happy to see hosting just because they hosted 100 years ago? they're not Athens, and still it was a terrible mistake from the Greeks to do that. Their venues now are ruins, just like the Parthenon).
Palette86
I do hope Istanbul to host OG one day. The slogan "bridge together" was catchy, had clear impact and I liked it very much. But if Istanbul would bid again, what slogan or concept would be the best for Turkey? As for "bridge together",they used up already this time(in 2020 race). And if Almaty could win 2022 WOG then "the first OG in Islamic world" goes to Kazakhstan's. munichfan
Oh, please not yet again that "two continents" thing the next time they bid. It hasn't worked for 2000, nor for 2004, 2008, 2012 or 2020. Istanbul should concentrate on their real strength: a growing economic impact, their massive amount of young and inspired people and their great culture.

Roger87
Well, there's hope for Turkey, if the new Istanbul mayor Ekrem Imamoglu delivers his potential
baron-pierreIV
A Pan-Turkey bid might work but unless they demolish ENTIRE neighborhoods in Istanbul proper, there is very little chance that Istanbul can work as an anchor city. Maybe Weightlifting in the Blue Mosque? Or Judo in the Haga Sophia? They'll have to share the prize with their other more spacious cities like boring Ankara or the more beautiful Izmir and Antalya. Then they might have a credible bid.
Olympianfan
The problem with Turkey is they pick the wrong cities to make a bid for the games the right city for Turkey for the Summer Games is Izmir and for the Winter Games Bursa until they start bidding with those cities they have got no chance at all to host the Olympic Games, If Jakarta Indonesia wins the bid for the 2032 Summer Games it will be a long time before any other Islamic country host the games.
