baron-pierreIV
Again, I was almsot there!! I guessed 41 for Tokyo in Round One!! 60 is nearly 2/3rds. Tokyo is really the safer choice for 2020! I hope that's the end of all the Fukushima bullsh*t from Paul and his cohorts!! Then they can go New Frontiers/Southern Hemisphere again with Durban 2024. Now, who's dumb enuf to run vs. So. Africa??

Filipe_Golias
This was really a victory of (my) brain versus (my) heart, lol. Congratulations to Tokyo! Please give us Games with some flair, will ya? Comiserations to Istanbul. Hope it's not the closest to victory you'll ever be...
krow
so tokyo's had this locked up for weeks, basically.
kevzz
Not chuffed at all about Tokyo hosting. Think it will be a very efficient Games, but sterile and predictable one. Oh well... at least there's still Rio 2016 to look forward to.
mattperiolat
Well, I guess the unwritten rule of asian Olympics each two decades is still happening. Congratulations to Tokyo. Although Istambul was a more charming city at least we're assured we will have very good organized Olympics. As is the rule of an Asian city hosting in a year ending in an 8. Tokyo has broken that tradition as well.
DannyelBrazil
Tokyo 60-36 Istanbul. Sad, Istanbul had no chance
runningrings
While we miss out on our first Middle Eastern Olympics - we do have a few firsts - the first Asian city to host TWICE - and the first time Asia has hosted BACK TO BACK - PC2018>TOKYO2020. Surely this dashes China's aspirations for 2028 on the rocks? (I'm quietly confident they were, or still are, plotting a Shanghai bid for 2028). yoshi
Tokyo had this the moment Taksim Square happened, it was all over then.
Barcelona_'92
I'm totally unexcited about Tokyo. If the USOC has any brains at all they should give up on 2024 now. Agreed on both counts. There's no reason for the USOC and any U.S. city to waste the money on a 2024 that they certainly won't win.
olympiaki-agones
Anyway, my next hope is South Africa for 2024
mattperiolat
60-36 final round vote OW! That loss smarts. Means all the Madrid votes went to Tokyo, plus Istanbul lost votes.
DannyelBrazil
Brazil 4 - 0 Australia in a soccer friendly so far... Totally irrelevant, today is the day to celebrate Tokyo
pablum
So why are people saying Tokyo means no North American (United States) Games in 2024? The last Summer Olympics in the US were in 1996 and the last Winter Olympics in 2002. It's about time.
menegazfelipe
As is the rule of an Asian city hosting in a year ending in an 8. Tokyo has broken that tradition as well. Remember Tokyo 1964?
