sebastien1214
Odoxa survey on the "legacy" of Paris 2024: - 68% of French people (65% of Paris region residents) in favor of keeping the Tuileries Olympic cauldron - 61% of French people (66% of Paris region residents) in favor of keeping the Phryges as the mascot of the 2030 Winter Olympics - 50% of French people (52% of Paris region residents) in favor of continuing the work to make the Seine swimmable - 41% of French people (51% of Paris region residents) in favor of increasing the tourist tax to finance the work to make the Paris metro accessible* - 37% of French people (39% of Paris region residents) in favor of keeping the Olympic rings on the Eiffel Tower until 2028 *To give you a little idea of how much it would cost, it is estimated that it would take 20 billion euros to make the fully accessible Paris metro is twice the total price of Paris 2024. And even with the money available, it would have been totally impossible to do this work in less than 15-20 years given the enormous disruption that the work would cause. yoshi
I thought the cauldron might be able to do that... I think you have a new July 14 tradition in the making ( @sebastien1214 @Cyriln I think I read that there was gonna be some kind of announcement about the future of the cauldron tonight?) I mean, if they decide that the cauldron can stay in the Tuileries, what is the point of dismantling it now? Does the article give any explanation for that? I can't read it because it is behind a paywall.
Olympian2004
In any case, that was a great send-off Paris staged yesterday for this Olympic and Paralympic summer. Luckily I receive France 2 here, but I couldn't watch the parade and the ceremony and concert succeeding it in their entirety. But they had several famous acts from the Olympic opening ceremony there again: Beneath the Arc de Triomphe, Axelle Saint-Cirel once more sang the Marseillaise, wearing that stunning "Tricolore dress", this time, luckily, she did not have to sing in the rain. The Garde républicaine again performed Charles Aznavour's "For me, formidable" which led into Aya Nakamura's performance, but this time, Aya's voice was only on tape. And yes, also Philippe Katerine made a comeback in his Dionysus/"Papa Smurf" costume. The public sang "Aux Champs-Elysées" along one more time, and the French Olympic and Paralympic medallists were honored with the "Ordre pour la mérite" or the "Légion d'honneur" by President Macron. And even Fencing 1976 was present one more time, awarding the Olympic Cup to the people of France, as @Guilga already pointed out. I hope that one day, there will be a video of the entire festivities accessible to the global audience, it was definitely worth watching. The article I just linked also contains the announcement of Anne Hidalgo that the Olympic Rings will stay on the Pont d'Iéna. It remains to be seen whether it's the rings from the Eiffel Tower or the smaller set that she and Thomas Bach took a photo with (also contained in the article). So, I feel that this definitely the end of the festivities surrounding Paris 2024, right? Maybe our French members can shed some light on that. For me, it is still a difficult good-bye, and that is a great testament to what impression Paris and France left probably on millions of people around the world this summer. So, once more: C'était un été merveilleux, merci pour tout, chers amies et amis français(es)!

I can't read it because it is behind a paywall. The article only says that discussions are still underway. It's just that the time has come. There has already been a one-week delay because of yesterday's parade, but it has to be removed now, maybe to come back later. The same will happen with the rings on the Eiffel Tower: they will be removed soon but should be back quick (the current rings are too heavy to stay longer). Also, new rings have been installed yesterday in front of the Eiffel Tower so for now, we have double rings all the way across the Seine. 2 minutes ago, Olympian2004 said: So, I feel that this definitely the end of the festivities surrounding Paris 2024, right? It's not really festivities but several objects used during the Games will be sold during flea markets. The first one took place yesterday and others are planned up to October. 1
yoshi
Phew, so dismantled doesn't necessarily mean fully dismantled - it sounds like what happened to Ozzy the Birmingham bull, he had to be taken into storage for a while (I think about a year?) after the Commonwealth Games so they could a) find a spot for him & b) do all the necessary stuff to enable him to be on display permanently. Finding a spot for the cauldron balloon shouldn't be as hard so hopefully it won't be as long PS I was thinking yesterday watching the party that I was feeling a bit meh about 2030 before Paris - you know, France again after only 6 years when it could've been Sweden - and now I can't wait to see the Winter games in French hands too. Hopefully the spirit of 2024 will live on down in Nice Edited September 15 by yoshi

It’s perplexing how these sponsorships work; perhaps they’re trying to create an aura of exclusivity or maintain a certain image. This could lead to confusion for fans who admire these athletes. Additionally, platforms like Undress AI Tool provide a unique way to creatively reimagine photos https://clothoff.fun/ . I get what you mean! It’s really confusing how sponsorships work sometimes. It feels like these brands have so many rules that don’t always make sense. Social media definitely complicates things, too. It gives everyone a platform to showcase their style, but it also puts a lot of pressure on them.

She's not an Olympic athlete; it was worn at a NON-Olympic event -- so of what Olympic value is that at all? One more piece of effluvia that'll just sit in the storage rooms of the TOM in Lausanne. Either I completely missed it or the wetsuit hasn‘t arrived yet. What was unmissable of course was Fencing 1976‘s portrait right next to the original foil he won with.
