Every sport has different requirements for someone to shine, so these comparisons don‘t really make sense anyway.

Duplantis may be the most sensational pole vaulter while Biles is the most sensational gymnast. Then there‘s Phelps as a swimmer though however there‘s also Ledecky. Who‘s more sensational anyway? Etc etc.

All these people excel in their sports and that‘s it.

@Sir Rols

don’t look at the Team Oz thread as you’ll see results you may not want to see until you’ve watched replay/s

Maybe it is just me but I am seeing a lot of social media athletes posting about their sponsors and attending sponsor events especially our aussie swimmers and in the athletics, athletes wearing their sponsored socks like Nina wearing Puma and Eleanor wearing Adidas. Has the IOC relaxed their sponsorship rules?

even the whole LV aspect of the ceremonies for medals and that section for the OC, I have found quite strange…

i mean, i'm in favor of getting rid of them but i think most people would say they need to wear clothes, and i'm not sure if you've noticed but clothes often do contain manufacturer logos.

No I mean like for instance Australia is sponsored by Asics for the olympics but they are wearing their own clothes

i feel like an idiot because i do not understand this at all.

you can be sponsored by a sportswear brand but are not supposed to wear their clothes?

but now some people are wearing those clothes?

uh okay? i guess that's kind of interesting if you have literally nothing else at all to care about.

Does anyone know if Gare Du Nord was cleaned up for the Olympics? The streets around it were quite shocking when I visited in 2019. It was one giant urinal, with people openly urinating on the pavements.

It was for the cinema verité vignette -- one of Jolly's rejected ideas for the Opening (or Closing) ceremony!

is it just me or is the Olympic -> Paralympic gap feeling a little longer than usual... I want Paris 2024 to continue already! 🙂

It is -- primarily because of the major reconfiguration work they had to do at the Place de la Concorde.  They had to take down the mini-Olympic stadia there (for what? 3 sports) -- and then re-create it to as the main Paralympic venue.  And who knows what else they had to do with the other major venues?  Plus maybe similar renovations at the OV as well?

There are 17 days between the closing of the 2024 Olympic Games and the opening of the 2024 Paralympics, but this is not an abnormal delay. For example, in London and Rio there was also a 17-day gap.

But because Paris 2024 is using/renovating so many major venues for set of Games or the other, they are factoring 2 weeks plus 3 days to get all that work done.  Not to mention also removing all the stands along the Seine -- and what? breaking down the Trocadero installations, the Des Invalides, and the Beach volleyball venue at Champs du Mars.
