Sir Rols Posted July 7, 2024 Report Posted July 7, 2024 Woohoo! That was sure a lovely surprise to wake up to. Haven’t been this pleased by a French election result since Mitterrand got in (now THAT’S showing my age). 1 Quote

FYI Posted July 7, 2024 Report Posted July 7, 2024 So, looks like Macron's big political gamble paid-off after all. Quote

Macron is finished. As he cannot run again in 2027 and he no longer has enough deputies to carry weight, he now has the same political influence as Elizabeth II, that is to say none because she is dead. (and then even his allies start to abandon him) Quote

And may they be kicked in their nuts forever and ever, without even a chance to snatch the power of the people with their bigoted hate! For now, France can finally get back to party mode, and if it comes with an Euro just before, this could be a very reliefing olympic games. 1 Quote
FYI Posted July 7, 2024 Report Posted July 7, 2024 ^^And the next BIG test of that, is this Nov! 1 Quote
yoshi Posted July 7, 2024 Report Posted July 7, 2024 Well it now feels like we've all crossed the last hurdle of a long, long 8 years since Rio. Can we finally enjoy a Summer Olympics now? 1 Quote

It opens at 4pm, except on 9 and 10 August (12pm) Note that on 9 August, a special ceremony will take place at the Champions Park where reallocated medals will be awarded to 10 athletes who competed at Sydney 2000, Beijing 20008 and London 2012. StefanMUC Posted July 8, 2024 Report Posted July 8, 2024 Perfect for me on the Wednesday (31): Judo tickets in the morning, beach vb in the evening, and this in the vicinity of both in between. Any idea already about the weather forecast in general? Quote

Olympicman Posted July 8, 2024 Report Posted July 8, 2024 We have the Official PARIS2024 OBS INTRO! 1 Quote

And then the character animations... it looks like they literally took blank 3D man models from Blender or another 3D software and that's it?! The first thing I don't like at all about the look of Paris 2024. Fortunately, it's not something we French did, but OBS: honor is saved. Quote

At the very least they put the actual logo of the games in the intro this time. Music is off, should be Parade playing there as the games theme actually instead; the animated scnes does give the vibes of the games spread into the city but making everyone white mannequins is a choice really. FYI Posted July 8, 2024 Report Posted July 8, 2024 Is that still a thing? Who's even paying attention to that anymore with everything else that's been going on as of late (plus, it's the wrong thread anyway). Quote
