sebastien1214 Posted June 20, 2024 Report Posted June 20, 2024 To compare with other editions of the Olympic Games. I prefer the Paris 2024 program much more (well, if we just judge the cover); we're finally moving away from minimalism, from sobriety (and yet I like it, but it's really... too much), while being elegant, and above all by reminding us in which country we are. 1 Quote
baron-pierreIV Posted June 20, 2024 Author Report Posted June 20, 2024 Or the versions sold in the US, when Time-Life Pubs. still had an Official Partnership deal with the IOC, Time-Life re-published and/or distributed the Official Programmes in the US back then. But so much has moved digitally now that -- I can't imagine what the deal is. Quote
yoshi Posted June 20, 2024 Report Posted June 20, 2024 So reading between the lines, I'm guessing that means it might be available in Smiths (for non Brits they're basically the only chain newsagents that'd have such a thing) in the UK, but probably only in London? Might stand a chance in Birmingham or Manchester maybe? Quote

yoshi Posted June 21, 2024 Report Posted June 21, 2024 Well that's not much use if it gets switched off after October is it? I'd think for anyone interested in this, it'd partly be for a lasting souvenir of the games. That makes an even bigger advantage for the print (or physical if that makes translation easier) version. Don't worry, in portuguese we have that too in a bit of lesser scale, altough i don't think we have as much trouble with that in here. "Digital" at least in Brasil means fingerprints when it relate to the things on the hand most of the time. Very important, but the context of digital in the tech sense is different enough. And also, yeah, digital version of the programme which means i doesn't need to worry about shipping costs pricing me out of actually getting it. Thanks for the concern, though! Quote

They’re as noisy af There are real quiet ones now. If they are importing them from the US--mostly Japanese-made, I hope it's the right voltage and the right PLUGS. All those euro male elec plugs and the holes can be REALLY pesky!! Edited June 24, 2024 by baron-pierreIV Quote

venuedesignlover Posted June 26, 2024 Report Posted June 26, 2024 Legacy is its own separate thing, but just off of design alone, I think the Paris 2024 is one of the most well designed and beautiful out there. On par with Vancouver 2010 in my opinion. Quote
