Quaker2001 Posted January 12, 2024 Report Posted January 12, 2024 All of the diving events in Paris will be held either from 10am-12pm or 3pm-5pm. So they'll get a lot of daylight to work with at that venue Quote

Lots of natural light too. I like the way it is integrated into the Olympic precinct and close to Stade De France, with a nice wide pedestrian bridge over the freeway. Proper artificial lighting for Diving and Artistic Swimming should be enuf so that those events are not dependent on daylight which will be diffused anyway. Quote

Olympic Events themseIbes will need broadcast standard bright artificial lighting no matter what time of day or night competition takes place - but the transparency on the ends and sides of this venue will be widely appreciated. baron-pierreIV Posted January 23, 2024 Author Report Posted January 23, 2024 Very "nice" mini-docu looking back at 1924 and how certain venues were used then and which ones will be used again this summer. Colombes will host Field 'Ockey! 1 Quote

Rob2012 Posted February 8, 2024 Report Posted February 8, 2024 (edited) Wow, I love this. Such a smart idea, and presumably not too costly or complicated to do. Nice designs as well. (I do wonder if there's a bloke in Paris who's just got a big wad of Euros for spinning a yarn...reminds of the time we went to Berlin and a couple of my mates bought 'pieces of the Berlin Wall'. I'm absolutely convinced there's just a guy with a cement mixer behind the souvenir shop....surely they're not still selling it 20 years on?! ) Edited February 8, 2024 by Rob2012 Quote
Sir Rols Posted February 8, 2024 Report Posted February 8, 2024 Considering the summer medals are always far more constrained design-wise than the winter ones, the French did a great job literally putting heir “stamp” on them. And cheeky transporting the Eiffel Tower to Athens for the back. Nice and classic (as the summer medals always are). 1 hour ago, Rob2012 said: (I do wonder if there's a bloke in Paris who's just got a big wad of Euros for spinning a yarn...reminds of the time we went to Berlin and a couple of my mates bought 'pieces of the Berlin Wall'. You’d think they’d have run out in the 90s, though I guess there was a lot of wall. Our times’ version of splinters of the True Cross I guess. 1 Quote

Scotguy II Posted February 8, 2024 Report Posted February 8, 2024 Paris has met the brief regarding Olympic medals perfectly. They are truly stunning, the best yet. So stylish, so chique, so French. Quote
baron-pierreIV Posted February 8, 2024 Author Report Posted February 8, 2024 I think it was either bits from the Tour d'Eiffel or burnt bits from Notre Dame. Quote

In my opinion, Paris has really excelled when it comes to the design brief - logo, look, pictograms, medals, mascot - all executed well, enough innovation to move hem forward without trying to hard or being outlandish. So what’s still to come? Podiums? Volunteer uniforms? Starting to get a sense it’s really ticking down. 2 Quote
baron-pierreIV Posted February 9, 2024 Author Report Posted February 9, 2024 I think torch and mascots are subpar. I find the Look too busy and the pictograms quite perplexing. Even the medals are just OK for me--not spectacular. 1 Quote
Cyriln Posted February 27, 2024 Report Posted February 27, 2024 The Olympic village will be inaugurated this Thursday and the OC will take possession of it the day after, on March 1. The village won't have a mayor. The office that was planned for the mayor will be transformed into a nursery, where athletes will be able to reunite with their children in a comfortable place.
