Here's another reflection/spin-off of the LA/US v. Paris/France Olympic rivalry -- the results of business @ the Paris Air Show.

Quote

Airbus (AIR.PA) conceded defeat to rival Boeing (BA.N) in the race for new business at the Paris Airshow on Thursday, as a late haul of almost 100 aircraft failed to close a gap opened up by the launch of the American firm's new 737 model.

The European planemaker said it won 326 net new orders and commitments against its estimate of a comparable Boeing tally of 443, excluding conversions from other models to support the launch of the Boeing 737 MAX 10.

Airbus on Thursday signed deals with AirAsia, and privately-owned Iranian carriers Zagros Airlines and Iran Airtour.

As Airbus was unveiling its numbers, Boeing topped up its tally by announcing a firm order for 125 737 MAX 8 airplanes with an undisclosed customer and another deal with AerCap to convert 15 of its MAX 8 orders into the larger MAX 10.

"Is this a slower show than previous years? Yes, it is. Are we conceding that Boeing sold a few more airplanes than we did? Yes," Airbus sales chief John Leahy told a news conference.

Leahy said he had expected the new Boeing plane to make more of a splash. "We had expected they would have had a bigger launch on the 737 MAX 10, not quite as many conversions, more incremental orders."

While he did not expect the MAX 10 to be a viable competitor to the A321, Leahy said the Boeing plane's launch could result in price pressure. "They're clearly going to come after us on price."

Also, come July 4, USA men will face the higher-seeded French in a rematch @ the finals of Men's Indoor Volleyball World League in Curitiba, Brazil.

Yeah.  So the final 6 teams are host Brazil, Canada, Serbia, France, Russia and the USA.  The very strong teams of Poland and Italy didn't make it!

Wow. I need to check the competition ASAP. For work I couldn't check but with this result is incredible surprising and really competitive.

Previously published thought.

Roger87 (do not read further,.......just put on your headphones and turn up the violin music to full blast...and gaze out at that gorgeous tower that is the symbol of everything you dreamed life could be...it is finally time for the redemption of the devastated french people....and Thomas Bach will lead the way)

For anyone not wearing la vie en rose colored glasses.....

...oh come on! could that solo violins playing the IOC death march have been any more old fashioned and dull? I mean I'm sure the old leadership trying to maintain their death-grip on the IOC think it's top 40 but it's kind of hilarious to anyone under 100.

Paris will do the classic EurOlympics in every way, budget problems, landlocked euro capitol, protests form public once budget explodes, lots of violin solos, sticky with perhaps a little rain.

LA 28 will pick up the pieces and have a big sunny party. (if they get suckered into it......i'm starting to think there may be an out still...we can dream)

And why would they do better in 2028?    Maybe they could get more sun due to the climate change that Trump is going to reinforce?:P

(the question now is not to know if Paris is good enough to host the Games but when they're going to host the Games: 2024 or 2028)

While accusing others in lack of self awareness, arrogance, lack of cultural thoughts and discussing no others like stereotypes and cliches from different nations and generations, yep this is like
