baron-pierreIV
/\/\ Timbre? Well, if it's like the oaks at Notre Dame, they could last 500 years -- altho what the effects of evaporating chlorinated water on the oak beams might be , who knows?? SportLightning
That aquatics venue will be completed as the only permanent venue for Paris 2024 and will remain used as family swimming pool after the games close as part of the Paris 2024 legacy. C'mon, who're you kidding? What "family" needs a 50m pool to have fun?? You think families outside of 25km will come to St. Denis to frolic in the pool? Why, they have pools closer to them. The greatest benefit for this Olympic venue will be for France's competitive swimmers.

Of course -- becuz they're there. But my point is you DON'T need 50m Olympic-sized pools for recreation. Without the Olympics, you can have 25m, or 30m recreation pools. No you don't but 50m pools make better multipurpose pools that can be used for both training and recreation especially if they have a moveable boom that allows the pool to be split into two 25m pools one which can be used for training and the other for recreation at the same time.

Well, yeah. The boom. Our local pool here is 30m long and it functions fully as a rec pool for the community including giving scuba lessons to divers WITHOUT a BOOM and without any "Olympic provenance." Duh.

baron-pierreIV
France honors Josephine Baker further by making her the first Black Woman "interred" at the Pantheon in Paris. (It is a mere symbolic internment--of a cenotaph--since Baker's remains will stay in Monaco. The smaller coffin carries the soils of Baker's 3 countries - the USA, France and Monaco.) Viva, Mlle. Baker!! They gave her a quasi-military send-off -- another honor which even Edith Piaf was not given.
