Of all of the big athletics-capable stadiums in the world Stade de France seems like the one best suited to its primary tenants. If a stadium designed from the start to be suitable for football and rugby in addition to big athletics events is not good enough, then there is simply no hope for Olympic Stadiums in the future. The size difference between football/rugby stadiums and athletic stadiums is just too great, thanks in particular to the requirement for curved ends to the running track (I seem to recall seeing on GB years ago a superimposition photo showing that the whole of the old West Ham stadium would almost fit in the field-of-play of the London Stadium). A Senate report has not much more value than the paper on which it is printed. This kind of decision takes place at Elysee Palace. I doubt such a plan would fare well there. The most important is the decision to host the annual diamond league athletics meeting in a new venue (20.000 seats). So, there will be no more athletics at the Stade de France. This stadium could be seen as a stong legacy for athletics (an advantage over LA but this advantage doesn't exist anymore as soon as it is announced there will be no more athletics in the stadium). Ironically Melenchon can be a good card to break the anti-EU/OTAN bloc of Le Pen. With both sharing similar platforms related to economics and Europe, the vote can split (And that's not counting the recent controversy of Le Pen for "Vel d'hiv rounds), with Melenchon being the non Nazi. While the marathon swimming would take place on the Seine River flowing through Paris, fencing would take place at the Grand Palais. “All sports branches will be held in Paris,” Konstantinidis told a group of 168 journalists from 28 countries attending the yearly event of the Ski Club of International Journalists (SCIJ) in France’s picturesque Val Cenis mountain resort last week. “Except for equestrian, which will be held in Versailles; rowing and canoeing, which will be held to the east near Disneyland; and sailing that will be held in Marseilles,” he said, adding that the vast majority of the sports in Paris will be within the 10 kilometer-radius of the city. While the final football game will be held in Paris, the matches leading to the final will be held in different stadiums across the country. Placing great importance for the Paralympic games, the Paris bid candidature’s integration head said the total budget of the whole organization was $6.2 billion. While $3.2 billion of this money was allocated for the budget of the organization of the games, the rest, $3 billion, was public and private investments that would be used for the Olympic, Paralympic and Media villages. Touching upon the strong infrastructure of Paris and especially the vast means of transportation inside and around the city, Konstantinidis said from an “image and infrastructure point of view,” the city of lights was “by far the best option,” for the bid.
