Paris 2024

well there goes my licensing theory!

i suppose it's possible -- as has been claimed in GB logo competitions of yesteryear -- that they came to the logo via parallel thinking. up on a big brainstorming white board, the number 2024 and the eiffel tower. "hey, the 4 looks like the eiffel tower if you slant it down, oh hey you can kind of get a 2 going in there too." not the most unique concept, but there are the colors etc.

I agree. I don't think it's plagiarism, since it is a very simple logo that is supposed to represent both the numbers 2 and 4 as well as the Eiffel Tower, a way to remember Paris 1924 as well as this new bid. It's not quite easy nowadays to come up with something new and original that hasn't been done before. Even the Rio 2016 logo had been accused of plagiarism. This is the 21st century, that's it.

On the plus side, it's closing an exhibit from the douchebag that is Karl Lagerfeld early.

But that article is so misleading. The art gallery was already having serious financial problems before the attacks, and the attacks just brought upon the inevitable earlier than expected. The museum was under receivership 10 days before the attacks. It was also a privately funded museum that had no backing from the French Culture Ministry.

http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2016/02/12/private-pinacotheque-de-paris-museum-to-close/

Not only that, the art gallery is in an extremely expensive area so rent is high, and the place isn't even that big. There are tons of complaints on how small and crowded it gets on TripAdvisor that you can't even enjoy the art properly, as well as complaints that the place is way overpriced for what it is and how some exhibits were misleading on how much actual art there was from the artist the exhibit highlights. Over 20% of the reviews on TripAdvisor rate the place as either Terrible or Poor. So its failure is mostly the result of just poor management. If they re-open the place, hopefully it's in a more spacious gallery with reasonably priced rent. Or have some backing from the French Culture Ministry as well.

Actually, most of these venues were already known (equestrian sports, road cycling, golf, track cycling, BMX).

I think that Elancourt hill was already the 2012 proposed venue for montain bike.

And it seems logical to place modern pentathlon in the same area as equestrian sports.

Hello everyone!

Just to remind ;)

Today the french commitee is presenting its project (venues map, vision, legacy, teaser video...) at the Paris's Philharmonie in front of an audience of 2k.

The french prime minister will assist at the event.

Here's a link of the live coverage www.dailymotion.com/video/x3s6zqm_paris-2024-en-public-et-en-direct_news (16:00 CET)

The website will be launched during this event apparently.
