South Africa Happy To Bid For 2024 Summer Games

Recommended Posts

Lmfao, It's so funny around here sometimes. In one corner, you have some that say it is bothesome that IOC presidential candidates are all about touting Africa & that others cities shouldn't even bother. Then in the other corner, we have some calling the IOC a total bluff on the subject. Never mind what the IOC really wants & which direction they want to.

The IOC make up & change the rules how they see fit as they go along, like they did with Rio. So I don't see why Africa would be any different. Then once they check them off their hosting list, then it's back to the normal spending spree & the "glamorous Games". Simple. No need to read too much into it that the IOC is now going to make a total overhaul.

Until the IOC actually changes some rules to make bidding/hosting less burdomsome, it's all just talk.

Until the RSA governement actually sets aside a few billion to pay for a games, it's all just talk.

Until this, thoughts of dropping out are, IMO, crazy.

Everything in speculation about 2024 is all just talk so far. Doesn't stop us, or potential bidders, looking for indications of what the field would be. Every statement about 2024 from the USOC or the French NOC, for example, tends to mention the potential for South Africa to bid and how this could affect whether they'd join in or not.
