Lord David
Melbourne - duh! SydneyLos Angeles London Amsterdam Munich Innsbruck Rome Paris Sydney/Melbourne...one day Australia needs to be visited :-) If you visit Melbourne, come and watch an event at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, home of the 1956 Olympics and 2006 Commonwealth Games. Pay visit to the National Sports Museum, located on level 3 of the Northern Stand, it has an Olympic exhibit which has Australia's collection of Olympic torches. reindeer
I've been to seven cities, mostly Europeans with the exception of Seoul. I would like to go to Rome and Athens mainly for their historical importance. Sydney and LA appeal to me as cosmopolitan world cities. Munich is probably the city that I would visit mainly because of the Olympic heritage as I don't find it very interesting otherwise. Had a flight connection at MUC last year though. I guess this could be updated now that I have visited Rome. London (attended the games and went inside the main stadium). Saw the stadium at least from outside: Berlin Stockholm Helsinki Seoul Barcelona Visited the cities but didn't see anything important related to the Olympic theme: Paris Rome I have still not been to any winter host city. SkiFreak
Just the host cities in western North America: 1. LA 2. Squaw Valley 3. Salt Lake City 4. Calgary - live here 5. Vancouver - only games I've attended With LA and Salt Lake, it was just mainly driving thru on vacation; either going to Disneyland or driving back to Calgary thru Salt Lake City. I usually swing by Squaw Valley if I'm in the Reno area. Hoping to ski at Squaw Valley one day and do this...
Olympic Fan Darcy
Melbourne Sydney Beijing Los Angeles In January i'll be able to add the following: Paris Rome London Berlin Munich Amsterdam Barcelona In terms of the Olympic sites i'd most like to see Sarajevo. Just the remnants of the olympic venues. See the podium where executions took place during the Sarajevo siege. Athens as well to see the abandoned sites.
