CLANG!!!!!

Finals LV Cup.

Luna Rossa has already broken down and we haven't even got started.

However the wind has picked up over the safe race limit and a minor delay to start.

Luna Rossa desperately working hard to repair the damaged centre board.

Still, this race could be cancelled due to high winds...(Artemus' legacy)

Here's a neat wee New Zealand Americas Cup tribute made by NZ's Virtual Eye, the video is billed as being from *the nation born from sailors to the best sailors of the world* - Kia Kaha San Francisc

It only stung for a quick moment before we realised we really were taking on a computer controlled monster. I'm still impressed at the leap Oracle took within a fortnight into a higher level of techno

I have been very proud of New Zealands reaction to the loss. There might be a glimmer of hope that we will challenge again! I have my fingers crossed.

Luna Rossa all repaired and we are ready to go, right on the wind limit, its gonna be quick.

Pre start...here we go...

RACING!!! 40knots...Team NZ tearing away.

LUNA ROSSA HAS BROKEN DOWN...its over! What a shame. Awesome start from Team NZ.

Racing away alone...

Woooooooooo!!!!!

Team NZ nearly blew it!!! Two crew over the side!!!!

Pitch Poled it!!! Nearly did an Artemus!!!

Superficial damage to the streamlining but back up to speed...Everyone with damage!!

Sh#t that was close

Anyways race one almost over. Got an hour to be ready for race two.

A break down on Team NZ stopped dead in the water...Luna Rossa passes by and into the lead...

And now they are out! Team NZ has formally retired from race 2.

Race 3 in an hours time.

Luna Rossa has beaten Team NZ for the first time.

Interesting to see footage of the the Oracle v Team NZ parallel match up yesterday. Looked as if Oracle had an edge in speed.

...Oh and the fault on Team NZ was electrical, not mechanical...The battery pack that powers the control motors of the dagger board went flat. Doh!

Race 3 tecnically race 2, away we go...looking good.

Ahhhrgh, Luna Rossa blew their wingsail shieth, dead in the water.

Team NZ easing up and cruising to the finish line. Not pushing it, sailing alone.

Looks like no Race 4...Luna Rossa nearly pulled their use once only wildcard that cancels the next race till the next day ...But once again the wind got up over the limit thus negating the wildcard, Luna Rossa saved again.

Ho hum.

Its all a bit of a joke at the moment!

When you get the mayor of San Fran saying "I wish NZ would take this thing away" or words to that affect. As my profile comment says, patience!

And it's only gonna get worse...Oracle is now being formally investigated over potential cheating in the AC45 series earlier this year.

Such Funnnnnnerghhh.

Confirmed today out on the course with Oracle...Their Cats can foil UPWIND!

The holy grail of high speed yachting achieved...Team NZ neither confirms or deny they can do it, but after a tease on the upwind leg, looks like they can as well.

I just have a suspicion that Oracle will take the cup. They will be faster than Team New Zealand.

I believe you...

Artemus, had tragedy not struck, would have given us a true test of what Oracle will be like to race. Similar designs.

Luna Rossa have been a real let down and really only there now because Artemus fell and Mascal Latino pulled out.

Race whatever it is underway, Team NZ well in control.

Over the line first...and it looks like we are going to get the second race of the day as well!

If Luna Rossa doesn't keep screwing up, they actually look good out there.

Normal broadcasting resumes...

Another one for TNZ...but good work from Luna Rossa.

...And we got two races in as well. :-)
