They shouldn't have named it after the Goddess of the Hunt. She was not a water creature. Plus, having a Swedish boat being skippered by a non-Swede is really odd. I imagine Poseidon didn't like these anomalies!!

I would name my boat The Kraken!!

Tackless...but a good point Baron...There is a spooky side of the sea that seafaring nations have a thing about.

Tackless? I think very timely and on point. "The tack (in sailing terms) is the lower corner of the sail's leading edge."

Artemus Racing is to be investigated in regards to the design of their AC72. Investigators will check over the team's operating systems and other paperwork to make sure the safety criteria has been adhered to.

Mainly just to put the team in the clear.

Artemus Racing is still to decided if it will continue with the America's Cup programme for this regatta.

Oh, Artemus! My apologies. For some reason, I had read it as "ArtemIs," hence my earlier comments. OK, now it makes sense.

BIIIIIIG DAAAAAAY TODAY.

All four Syndicates will go into talks today regarding the future of this year's event...and the fate of the AC72 Class catamarans in this event.

Artemus Racing is expected to formally withdrawl from the regatta with one mention being made the they were simply unprepaired for the sudden surge in technology and have admitted they are still too far behind Oracle and ETNZ. ...That's a huge admission from the team that was considered the potential dark horse, and the fact they performed so well in the AC45 Class.

Luna Rossa Challenge is also considering leaving even though their AC72 is a copy of the ETNZ cats.

ETNZ is looking to still go head to head with Oracle and is willing to fight to keep the event alive.

There is a last resort option to race the regatta in the AC45 class...But its a long shot. :(

<_< I expect it will simple be a very paired down regatta to just Oracle and ETNZ, with Luna Rossa being encouraged to stay as a 'practise' team.

:) The America's Cup Regatta will carry on as planned after a meeting with Cup Officials and the four competing syndicates...who have thrown their full support behind the beleaguered event. It was predicted that Artemus Racing would withdrawl from the event.

Investigations into last week's tragic accident involving Artemus continue with the focus on the repairs made to their AC72 after previous accident.

Pretty much the event is too far forward to cancel...or change to AC45 class. <_< and as we know, America's Cup is riddled with lawyers and know doubt this was taken into consideration.

(ooh...4000th post. :D )

Concerns are mounting if Artimus will have it's new AC72 wing sail ready in time for the start of the LV Cup finals next month.

ETNZ and Luna Rossa Challenge have proposed a three-way semi-finals with the ultimate winner going to the final with the 2nd and 3rd in a repecharge to find the 2nd finalist. Mainly to make the LV Cup worth the expense and give some credibility to what has turned out to be a disaster of a regatta - and it hasn't even started yet!

:) That fog pic looks f###ing awesome!!!

...and good news is Artemus has confirmed it's fully committed to next month's LV regatta :D .

As for the 'Brand Identity'...the lack of AC72 challengers gives a good reason why...America's Cup is horrendously expensive!

And New Zealand is the only country that has to look for sponsorship...All the others are 'house' brands of the billionaires.

:) All Set To Go!

US Coast Guard has given the go ahead for the America's Cup regatta after amendments of rules and conditions were approved today. These were made after the tragic accident involving Artemus and the loss of sailor Andrew Simpson in May.

Racing begins on 4th July.

:angry:ergh!

As typical of the off water action in the America's Cup...A stouch over racing rules is threatening to postpone the event with America's cup officals threatening to return the racing licence to the US Coastguard as ETNZ and LRR are upset at Oracle's dilly dallying with configurations of AC72 structures and speed restrictions post Artemus...

Luna Rossa Challenge is threatening to withdraw from the event and throw it's support behind ETNZ in a straight America's Cup challenge. This will totally ruin what should have been the best Cup ever.

But really what has ruined everything are the AC72 Class cats...They are just too hot to handle in the heavy San Fran Habour wind conditions and only ETNZ have mastered them. The AC45s were perfect and even raised the attention of the IOC.

It's too later to turn back for Larry Ellison without a huge embarrassing U-Turn that will cost Bay area taxpayers $$$millions in losses, and reputation.

Ellison is such a jackass anyway.

So's Russel Coutts for that matter

(Baron - Coutts is Oracle's Racing's CEO...Formally Team NZs winning AC captain.)

Opening Ceremony.

A very awkward day as the Louis Vuitton/America's Cup regattas was formally opened in San Francisco today. Prada / Luna Rossa on the verge of pulling out of the event after they closed their racing merchandise store over an argument with AC village directors.

At the captain's march past, Luna Rossa's wasn't present and when the teams were announced on stage, after a worrying delay, the team presented it's self. Artemus got a loud cheer with positive notes from them saying they will front for the LV cup.

Organizers have put on a brave and positive face but there seems to be much ill feeling with only three days to go with the first race between ETNZ and LR. Artemus is still working hard to get race ready but looks likely to forfeit a handful of races to begin with as they perfect their new and much delayed AC72.

I hope the racing drowns out all the negativity and show everyone what this new format in racing will do for yachting...somehow the challengers will need to ramp up the excitement.

They are notoriously touchy and self important, this is typical of Mr. Bertelli and their entire egomaniacal organization.

Not a big shock as their global nemesis LV looms everywhere over the proceedings.

Perhaps their focus should have been honed earlier when engineering and preparing their earlier 72s, one of which imploded on their teammate.

<_< Luna Rossa has pulled out of it's first race on Sunday sighting it's protest against the rudder foil changes as the reason.

Team New Zealand will be left to sail alone as per race rules.

<_< Your rules, not ours...and anyway, everyone will be distracted by what happened out at the airport yesterday...an Asiana Air B777 finally losing the fatality free record for the 777 marque. Thankfully only two lives.

Air New Zealand's NZ8 was following closely behind and had to divert to LA...with crew and support supplies for ETNZ. Doh!

Oh my. Thank God there were only 2 fatalities. I guess NZ8 couldn't land in Oakland if that was a widebody.

It’s good to work out all these hiccups to prepare for an even bigger regatta at San Francisco in 2016
