I mean killer flights but on the A380, should be bearable. But better to break the leg in New York or LAX and u'd have more airline choices for a direct from NYC. Or United does LAX - Houston - Rio. But come July 2016, I am sure United and COPA/Varig will be adding more flights from No. America. It would be crazy to go to Rio via Dubai unless one has other business in Dubai. U will get better deals in the more competitive routes via No. America. Competition always foster the lowest prices. Also: - study the pricing and routes for 2014; for sure, the DIRECT flights into Rio will cost the most. - consider flying into Buenos Aires. I think I will do Rio and BA in 2016. There might be a big difference in buying a R/T via BA; and then throwing in a BA - Rio -BA ticket. Baron, are you in the 90s? JAL does not fly to Brazil for more than 10 years. Not any of the Japanese Airliners. They can have some code-share or Alliance stuff. The only flight from LAX to Brazil is Sao Paulo-Los Angeles-Seoul by Korean Air. Varig went bankrupt in 2005, and the brand Varig was sold to Gol Airlines. Varig only operates Rio-Sao Paulo flights now-a-days. Dubai is today the best, fast and the major Asia hub for flights to/from South America. In around 12 hours you can reach Dubai - the same duration for flights to Europe. Flights with connections in USA are really unlikely because of the stupid Visa process asked for most of countries. Visas (costing US$ 140 and including really bureaucratic and invasive process) are asked even for connecting flights, not to mention the "rude" CBP officers in imigration booths. Unless you're American, Canadian, European or you already have an US visa, USA is a nightmare. If you can avoid, avoid. Still, Buenos Aires is a natural choice for flights coming Oceania. The best way to reach Brazil. True. Direct flights costs more. American Airlines have the best fares to/from Brazil compared to any other International carrier from "first world". Panama's Copa Airlines is truly a pricey way to reach Brazil. If you have nothing against spend 7 hours in a 737, go for it. Still about AA, the best and newer airplanes from them are now flying Dallas - Sao Paulo. Indeed, the inaugurational flight of the new AA livery/paiting was to Sao Paulo. A tribute to their best overseas market. AA is already flying to 9 cities in Brazil!!!!!!! More than any other country!

I was just offering other suggestions to ilustrado rather than the strange choice of Manila - Dubai - Brazil. Those routes I suggested are NOT '90s. I just plugged those in before posting on them. What's so funny is that you think you're the ONLY one who has info on flights to Brazil. Like only your computer in the entire world can access airline skeds -- and others can't? But hey, if u think u can offer better routes, then be my guest. [One thing...I am NOT riding American down to So. America. I HATE that airline. Have never had a satisfactory flight with them. Would rather NOT go to that destination if they're the ONLY choice.]

I was joking about 90's since Varig went bankruptcy in early 2000's. The biggest airliner in Brazil today is TAM Airlines. Gol Airlines also flies to Miami and Orlando... No Varig anymore. JAL is not flying to Brazil for almost 10 years, nor any other airline from Japan. Baron, sorry, it's a fact: JAL and Varig are not options to Brazil anymore. I'm very used to Aviation forums and stuff, but I'm not the oracle of aviation in Brazil, nor want to be. Still, I'm telling what seems the best-and-ONLY HUB from RIO DE JANEIRO INTL AIRPORT to Asia: Dubai. But, for sure, it's not the only option and probably not the cheapest one. You can make multiple flights to reach Brazil from Asia. It's up to the client to choose what fits better time/schedule and cost. As I said, if you consider go thru Sao Paulo, the options increase: Korean, Turkish Airlines, Air China, even South Africa Airways can be a choice.......... Rio Int'l is expecting to receive Qatar Airways soon, but the options from Rio now-a-days are limited to South and North America, Europe, Angola or Dubai only. That's MY SOLE POINT: If you want to come from Asia direct to Rio and avoid Sao Paulo crowded Airport: best option is Emirates.
DannyelBrazil Posted February 19, 2013 Author Report Posted February 19, 2013 About American Airlines, everybody says, and I myself already experienced that: Their service in flights to Brazil is amazingly much better than regular American flights to anywhere else. Not to mention, I had crap experiences in Miami-Orlando route meanwhile, I was pretty happy with their Sao Paulo-Miami route in brand new 777s. Indeed, the first 77W from AA (the first with the new painting) is flying Dallas-Sao Paulo route. American is really not known for good service, but it seems that flights to Brazil are different (only country AA offers this). Indeed, the luggage allowed rules is curiously different: You can fly with 2 huge suitcases, you can have a 3rd paying only 35 dollars... And the list of "bonuses" to flights to Brazil goes on...

As I said.......... JAL does not fly to Brazil for more than 10 years. Not any of the Japanese Airliners. They can have some code-share or Alliance stuff. With codeshares and this kind of stuff, you can come to Brazil buying tickets even in domestic airliners websites...
