Faster
Alex just got 20.00 on his first qualifying run. Not a good way to start. He finished 16th at the X Games in Aspen. 15th the year before. Unless he puts down a surprising run, he's definitely not a contender. He's 19. Most are just waiting for his breakout performance. Alex just scored 85.
Faster
Doesn't look to be a medal in ski slopestyle. Looks like the medalist have been settled.

Faster
Actually it worked out, she is in the much weaker of the two semis. I forgot you really liked short track.
krow
short track is bananas (b-a-n-a-n-a-s). but it's all about ski cross, when it comes down to it.

Faster
No sort track medals today. Honestly Hamelin got lucky not to be penalized in his heat. I think if that wasn't Charles Hamelin or Viktor Ahn it would have been a penalty.

Faster
Karmatic though, given that Francois Hamelin probably shouldn't have been on the team.
JLishere
No medals today. St-Gelais, silver in Vancouver, was relegated into B finals, finished last. Frank Hamelin's fall means Canada misses out on one of the most favorite medals by consensus. Hollingsworth and Reid don't qualify in skeleton. Beaulieu-Marchand falls on both his final runs. Though day for Team Canada, one to forget.
Faster
There's no qualification in skeleton. Just 4 runs, lowest time wins.

dave199
I can't believe we couldn't make the finals for the men's relay. There's another medal to make up somewhere else. I'm hoping we medal in team luge relay

Faster
Where else are Canadians going to win medals? Nesbitt is not back in form, that means no medal in the 1500m and likely no medal in the team pursuit No medal in the 5000m relay Harvey and Kershaw have shown nothing to think they will challenge for a medal in the team sprinit The two best shots in alpine skiing are already gone Outside of Humphries bobsleigh is a crapshot, with Canada not winning many marginal/close medals so far I doubt we'll medal in the men's events No medals in skeleton The men haven't been that great on the curling sheet, could be a struggle to medal there The alpine snowboarding team likely won't medal And there is only 4 more short track events and 2 of them are just as easy to see no medal, than a medal To approach 30 medals now Canada would need to win 4 of 6 medals in ski cross, get 2 on the ski halfpipe podium and have Gerrits medal in men's aerials, a notoriously jinxed event for Canada. If we count just events where it would be shocking for Canada to not medal: Feb 14: Men's Figure Skating Feb 16: Women's snowboard cross Feb 17: Ice Dance Feb 19: 2-Women Bobsleigh Feb 20: Women's curling Feb 20: Women's hockey Feb 21: Men's 500m short track

JLishere
Patrick Chan's silver is deserved but bittersweet considering expectations. Aside from a few speed skating events, curling and hockey, do we have any chance of medals in other sports this weekend?
Faster
Patrick Chan's silver is deserved but bittersweet considering expectations. Aside from a few speed skating events, curling and hockey, do we have any chance of medals in other sports this weekend? Yes Women's 1500m SSTS Marianne St. Gelais and to a much greater degree Valerie Maltais Men's 1000m SSTS Charles Hamelin, Oliver Jean and Charle Cournoyer all have the potential to get into the final and medal Men's 1500m Speed Skating Danny Morrison has a slight chance in this event. If he can skate as well as he did in the 1500m he'll be close to the podium Women's Snowboard Cross Maelle Ricker and Dominque Maltais could both medal

intoronto
Isn't Morrison's best distance the 1500m? No its the 1000. However anything is possible. Valerie Maltais is also a better chance at a medal in the 1500 then St.Gelais
