thatsnotmypuppy
There was quite a fair bit of discussion of how Israel would be welcomed to the Qatar FIFA World Cup/Doha 2016-20 Olympics - so I am interested in how people think the Armenians would handle an Istanbul Games. I haven't seen any concerted online effort to discredit the bid due to the genocide of 1915-1923. Well not as visible a campaign anyway as previous bid cycles has produced. With Armenia not having an IOC member at the moment will it be a non event? Considering the outrage at Beijing's bid in 1993 and 2001 after the Tiananmen Square 'incident' I am surprised people haven't been throwing stats around about the genocide. Has it been too long? I suppose it falls into the same category as Japan and their World War 2 atrocities and Spain's fascist terror purges.
