Ikarus360
Overall a very good organization. Too bad half of the world didn't even knew this was going on (as usual for most regional games) And its going to begin! 2 minutes for the start Circus tents? You know the organization spelt nepotism when the wife of Aliyev was the president of the organizing comittee Oh, a nice performance of the national anthem (which sadly the opening didn't had)

Ikarus360
Thanks! Although the latino commentarists can be too loud and annoying sometimes (they ruined the carpet segment for me when i watched their stream for example) The way they put the cauldron at that pedestal is so London 2012. Also a mix of azeri music with modern instruments

Ikarus360
A children choir doing a song for the athletes (which means they are going to enter now i guess)
Nacholympic
There can be a ceremon without cheesy children singing for peace?? For God Sake??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ikarus360
^^ I think Vancouver and Sochi avoided it. Just be happy they didn't rehashed Ode to Joy again (seriously that song was so overused in the 80's-90's)
Nacholympic
The top performance for Ode to Joy was in Barcelona '92 when that child sang it at the end of the ceremony.... and the Marching band in Sydney 2000 Opening Ceremony was amazing, too..... bairrosfelipe
Someone knows what is the meaning of these abstract shapes in the midle of stadium?
Ikarus360
DJ music for the entrance of athletes So far the closing ceremony has had a more modest feel compared to the solemn opening but without being excesively simple Someone knows what is the meaning of these abstract shapes in the midle of stadium? Its called Buta. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buta_(ornament) Buta ornament famed in Eastern countries in a broad territory is a typical detail of Azerbaijani national ornament.[10] Buta motif is often used by Azerbaijani master. There are a lot of types of buta and some of them have their own symbolic meaning.[11] Today, this ornament is widely used in Azerbaijan: on carpets, textiles and decoration of buildings. Buta is considered the symbol of Azerbaijan. I wonder if Russia would had still been on the top of the medal tally if all the other countries sent their most important athletes instead of the class B ones.
Nacholympic
If in these Games were not records and high marks recorded as happened in the Olympics an Pan Am which, also have sport stars on their editions (here no stars were present) Can be they considered as a succesfull Games? Or is it "only" a good way to start? (OMG Can't believe it, Claro Sports streaming includes spots breaks)
Ikarus360
^^ When they did became NBC? x_x Lol the back part of the Cauldron looks a bit ugly, it seems like a place to place AAA batteries.
