Galandar
I was actually surprised that there are pretty many at some events. But disapointed at other. Especially the outdoor sports outside venues. Triathlon, cycling for example. Not much people along the roads, if any at all. I think, there must be people somewhere in the city? Or is the city allways inside... it seems like a ghostcity with a lot of beutifull Buildings, but no people Baku is not a ghost city at all. On the contrary, normally it is a very vivid city with a lot of people and traffic on the streets, especially in downtown and coastal area. But I agree that in summer in the evening time there is more people on the streets. One of the pedestrian streets in downtown Baku:
bairrosfelipe
We all here knows Baku is a devoloped city and have a huge population. But why the outdoor events are in ghost neighborhoods? Why not in this crowded streets and around the edge of Baku? I'm a bit decepcioned
Galandar
We all here knows Baku is a devoloped city and have a huge population. But why the outdoor events are in ghost neighborhoods? Why not in this crowded streets and around the edge of Baku? I'm a bit decepcionedI told you why. Archery is held in 32K Tofik Bahramov stadium. I guess nobody expected to see this stadium full for archery tournament. Beach volleyball, water polo and basketball 3x3 are held in European Games park, which is located in a brand new Bayil waterfront park. This area used to be one of the poorest and dirtiest industrial zone. Aquatics Center is also located there and it is pretty full during the games. However, as I explained earlier the issue that outdoor venues are not always so full is they are not covered and the weather in Baku is very hot at 11-2 pm these days. All in all, the venues of Baku are crowded these days for this scale of event so I find it a bit odd to point out this fact.

LatinXTC
Someone knows what time (with timezone) the closing ceremony will start? Oh is it almost time for the closing ceremony??? It's on Sunday correct? I hope it's not ridiculously boring like Sochi's. My god what a depressing way to end an event of that caliber! It really made them look extremely soulless, much more soulless than Beijing after their OC.
emre
brothers doing a great job... but unf. they raised the future games expectations like beijing and sochi. non shall be so volunteered to host future games it seems despite lack of professional athletics swimming and basketball+football stil a good competition before rio. İf EOC decide to inc. all euro champs ( at least swimming athletics wrestling and volleyball) into this games it will be st like olympics even better than asian games.. the main problem....WHO WILL GET THE FLAG for 2019???? The European swimming and athletics federations have already decided to synch their continental champs from 2018 onwards, so the EOC was probably ignored in that decision. Hansfromdenmark
I was actually thinking that European Games perhaps should consider to move to another year. Like 2018, 2022 etc. in hope to have the top in Athletics and Swimming. In stead of there own European championschip... 2018 is to soon, but why not 2022? But perhaps those two federations don´t want to.

Ikarus360
^^ (please delete my other post :S ) I haven't had much time to pay attention to the games but lol the race for the 2019 (now 2018) race surely looks like a disaster. They pretty much didn't planned anything beforehand. As for the closing I guess that will be good news for certain users here.

Obviously the sports feds didn't care about the EOC and are doing their own thing. Let the EOC crawl up another dictator for 2019...

baron-pierreIV
No way!!!! I enjoyed Sochi's CC a lot!!! Taking away the emotion and eager feeling of every OC, I think Sochi CC was even beter than the OC. It was, according to me, the third time than the CC was beter than the OC: Nagano, London and Sochi. Sochi Closing was pretty good. Not nearly as good as its opening, but the Closing had excellent set pieces -- all greatly representative of Russian art, culture and literature -- the Artistic section (Chagall), the Writers' section, the Circus, the Composers's Section -- and that whole village based on Chekov's characters -- all the great things about Russian culture!! One of the best Closing ceremonies IMHO. Edited June 28, 2015 by baron-pierreIV
