The Skytree is already the tallest tower (as opposed to building) in the world ......

.... and that may be the problem. Traditionally, the tallest tower has been taller than the tallest building, because the safety limitations have been less of an issue. Being beaten by Burj Khalifa is a slap in the face.

TOTO will be the sponsor in the "Bathroom and Kitchen Fixtures" category - a first for an Olympic Games.
It the brings the total number of Tokyo 2020 partners to 27, including 12 Official Partners.
“TOTO Ltd. provides a variety of essential plumbing products that contribute to healthy and added-value lifestyles to people in Japan, and we are delighted to welcome the company as a Tokyo 2020 Official Partner," said Yoshirō Mori, President of Tokyo 2020.
"I have high expectations that TOTO will exemplify the omotenashi [selfless hospitality] that we aim to extend to all athletes, Games-related personnel and spectators.”
TOTO was founded in 1912 by Kazuchika Okura before the concept of public sewage systems was widespread in Japan.
After seeing more advanced systems overseas, he was moved to establish a ceramic sanitary ware laboratory to develop healthier and cleaner living spaces.
In 1917, Okura founded Toyo Toki K.K. - which became known as TOTO LTD. - to supply the market with these products.
The company invented and patented the Washlet, electric toilet seats with water spray feature for anal and genital cleansing.

"Based on the TOTO Group corporate philosophy, ‘Create an enriched and more comfortable lifestyle and culture built on our plumbing products,’ we will continue to create and offer plumbing and sanitary space that both athletes who come from overseas to compete and everyone in Japan who supports them can use safely, securely and comfortably.
"This will enable us to contribute to giving concrete shape to the vision of the Tokyo 2020 Games to deliver ‘the most innovative Olympic and Paralympic Games in history, inspiring positive change throughout the world.’”
Tokyo 2020 is aiming to raise a a total of JPY¥150 billion (£840 million/€1.27 billion/$1.1 billion) through its sponsorship programme to help fund the cost of hosting the Olymipcs and Paralympics, the first time they will have been staged in the Japanese capital since 1964.

Olympics: Olympic minister wants Fukushima to stage baseball, softball

Olympic minister Toshiaki Endo reiterated his hope Friday that Fukushima Prefecture can host the first rounds of baseball and softball at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, as he spoke on the fifth anniversary of the massive earthquake and tsunami that struck the region.

The Games' organizing committee recommended to the International Olympic Committee last September that baseball and softball as well as four other sports be added to the program for the 2020 Games.

Endo has been talking to the organizing committee president Yoshiro Mori as well as IOC President Thomas Bach about holding the sports in the prefecture, which was also severely affected by the meltdowns at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

"I'd certainly like to host the sports at Fukushima Prefecture," Endo said at a press conference following a Cabinet meeting. "At the moment we have no events scheduled to take place in Fukushima, which has been most affected. We'll be working toward staging them there."

Two other most affected regions, Iwate and Miyagi prefectures, have already been handed a boost by being named to host games at the Rugby World Cup in 2019 and first-round soccer matches at the 2020 Games, respectively.

"We'll also work toward hosting pre-competition camps and events as well as other international competitions in the regions," Endo said.

GIF-Haha-No-No-way-Nix-Never-GIF.gif

First off, cities host the Olympics NOT countries. Just because you already won the right to host the games and you want to make a few changes to your bid,THAT concept shouldn't be one of the things to change.

Also, there's no point in holding any baseball games that far from Tokyo because there are already more than enough stadiums in the greater Tokyo area. You have the Tokyo Dome in Bunkyo that holds about a 42k seating capacity, Meiji Jingu Stadium in Shinjuku that has a capacity of over 73k, Chiba Marine Stadium in Chiba City that has about a 30k capacity, Seibu Dome in Saitama that has a capacity of over 33k and Yokohama Stadium in Yokohama has a capacity of about 30k.

And if you think people are worried about the Zika virus in Brazil now, what makes you think people will flock to go see a game in Fukushima? I'm sorry Japan but stop trying to revitalize that tragic mess of a city by forcing people to go see an Olympic games over there. It ain't happening, and you can be sure that none of the athletes will want to go play there either.

*Meiju Jingu Stadium in Shinjuku has a capacity of over 37k, NOT 73k lol
