Tokyo 2020 Inspired by IAAF Opening Ceremony

11 Aug 2013

The Tokyo 2020 team, following its attendance at the impressive opening ceremony of the 14th IAAF World Championships in Moscow today, is more determined than ever to inspire the world with Tokyo’s Bid to host an unprecedented ‘downtown’ 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

IOC Member and President of both Tokyo 2020 and the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) Tsunekazu Takeda said: “The Opening Ceremony here in Moscow was a grand event. I wish to congratulate the IAAF, under the strong leadership of President Lamine Diack and the local organising committee for their work. Should we receive the honour of hosting the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we will host an Opening Ceremony where spectators and athletes will be truly united as one.”

“The Opening Ceremony is without a doubt one of the most memorable experiences, and we are working closely with the IOC to ensure the best possible environment for athletes. Specifically, athletes will be able to wait comfortably in the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, the venue just next to the Olympic Stadium and connected through a corridor, allowing easy and safe access.“ Takeda said.

He added that the athletes will be able to get seated once they enter the Olympic Stadium, ensuring that they can enjoy the Ceremony first-hand.

With a passion not only for athletics but for all sport, Japan is a long-term partner of the IAAF. In fact at the current World Championships, the official broadcaster and four of the seven official partners are Japanese companies. Japan’s close relationship with the IAAF was born when it hosted the 1991 IAAF World Championships in central Tokyo’s Kasumigaoka National Stadium.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will elect the 2020 host city at the 125th IOC Session in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 7 Sept. 2013.

Abe’s Japan Is Blind to Scary Nuclear Reality

By William Pesek Aug 13, 2013 6:00 AM GMT+0900 Bloomberg

Abe’s Seriousness

Dollar Signs

That brings us to the “what.” Fukushima is a growing embarrassment for Japan on the international stage. Oceans don’t have boundaries. Radioactive traces have been found in bluefin tuna -- not to mention on secondhand cars and auto parts imported by Russia from Japan. Another earthquake -- a live possibility -- could damage Fukushima anew or take out another reactor between now and the 2020 Summer Olympics that Tokyo hopes to host. The world won’t give Japan a pass twice on what would have been a perfectly preventable disaster.

Fukushima now in state of emergency, leaking 300 tons of radioactive water into the ocean daily

Tuesday, August 13, 2013 NaturalNews

Tokyo Electric Power Company workers sprayed with wildly radioactive water while waiting for a bus.

The Tokyo Electric Power Company cover-up.

Japan is a society that shuns whistleblowers.

Why the U.S. government plays along with the cover-up.

The Fukushima disaster is likely to get far worse, if you can believe that.

What is with all these newbies spamming and catastrophising Tokyo's bid? There were several concentrated, similar efforts against Istanbul in other websites- one using the name "Mike Adams" I believe.

Where could these random posts be coming from??¿¿¿

remains to be seen if it will get worse. Still not as bad as the closing days of the 2016 race, with all the web-based "Chicagoans for Rio" shenannigans.

August 19, 2013 18:43 Russia Today

Readings of tritium in seawater taken from the bay near the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant has shown 4700 becquerels per liter, a Tokyo Electric Power Company report stated, according to Nikkei newspaper. It marks the highest tritium level in the measurement history.

The level of radiation at the site was estimated at 100 millisieverts per hour, while the safe level of radiation is 1-13 millisieverts per year, according to ITAR-TASS news agency. The plant’s operator is currently investigating reasons for the leak, Tokyo Electric Power Company said in a statement.

Protective barriers installed to prevent the flow of toxic water into the ocean have failed to do so. The level of contaminated water has already risen to 60cm above the barriers, which has been a major cause of the daily leak of toxic substances, Tokyo Electric Power Company admitted.

So we've had two or three newbies on here and on SSC who register just to post links about Fukushima in an almost identical posting style, just two weeks before the vote.

I wonder if this account really is posting from "Sydney, Australia".

It's quite laughable really isn't it, be interesting to see where their Ip's track to.

Still, probably more entertaining than the obligatory first newbie post of asking the age old question of everyones favourite Olympic logo :P
