Fox334
the modern pentathlon should be drop! Ask any sports fan they no clue what this is. I'm a sports fan and I know what it is (Not that I disagree, but this isn't really the place for this - we already have a "what sport should be dropped" thread)
baron-pierreIV
What about the triathlon and the heptathlon -- equally stupid, half-baked events? At least the Modern 5 has some roots to history. What about the Quadrathon? The sextathlon? The Octathlon? The Novathlon??
Steve10086
Watching how the horses *really* don't seem to want to be taking part, I agree the modern pentathlon should be dropped (or at least replace the riding!).

dancingbrogues
The horses were in beautiful condition. Whilst the event may be a greater test of skill with horses than showjumping where the rider and horse know each other well, I disliked the rather aggressive treatment that some of the horses received from riders who should no better, you could tell by the ears that some of the horses didn't enjoy it. I know that some people say that getting heavy with the boots is just a different style from the classical stance, but it was far more in evidence here than with the 'real' show jumping. Olympian2004
Women's modern pentathlon GOLD: Laura Asadauskaitė (Lithuania) SILVER: Samantha Murray (Great Britain) BRONZE: Yane Marques (Brazil) http://www.london2012.com/modern-pentathlon/event/women/phase=mpw001d00/index.html How fitting that in the final medal event of these Games, both an athlete of the outgoing Olympic host and an athlete of the next Olympic host won a medal. Now the baton can be passed on to Rio!
