runningrings
Can you cite any references for your ridiculous claims? Since the Salt Lake, the IOC has been pretty transparent and thorough in its anti corruption measures. South Korea tried, and persisted patiently for over a decade to nab the Winter Olympics and they eventually did. They won fair and square, and I have no reason to doubt the integrity of the Russian bid, either. I think a lot of people throw the corruption accusation around with no other reason for it aside from xenophobia.

I think a lot of people throw the corruption accusation around with no other reason for it aside from xenophobia. If IOC tell you 'now bribes don't exist" you trust IOC ? Are you naive ? PC is already a financial fail... Sochi is became the most expensive Olympic games, more than SoG... This 2 choice are totally crazy, and the only reason why they have won it's money... Even Turin is suspicious, Sion was better... I like Italia, I'm not Xenophobia, Russia is a good country to host WOG, but Sochi isn't a good place, and Russia should prove their capacity to organize WoG before to be host city... Korea isn't a good host about WoG, China or Japan in Asia have a better potential, not Korea, and never Korea show their capacity to host winter event... Austria was a better choice in 2014, Munich was a better choice in 2018... Lot of journalist are very suspicious about 2014 and 2018 vote and potential bribes... IOC is a corrupted organization like Fifa

world atlas
PyeongChang 2018: IPC praises both the quality of the organizing team and the progress made for the Paralympics The delegations met to discuss the Paralympic Games for a day and a half and covered a number of topics / IPC LAURA WALDEN / Sports Features Communications March 1 - The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has just carried out its first project review of the 2018 Paralympic Games to be held at PyeongChang, South Korea. The two day meeting was held during February 27/28 and was headed by IPC CEO Xavier Gonzalez, Paralympic Games Integration Director Thanos Kostopoulos and Commercial and Marketing Director Alexis Schaefer. The IPC team met with a delegation from the 2018 Organising Committee (POCOG) led by President and CEO Kim Jin-sun and Vice President and Secretary General Dong Hoo Moon. Gonzalez noted on the progress, “It is exciting to see how much the preparations for the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games have come along in the past year. "We’ve had very productive and open discussions and are very pleased with the quality of the organising committee team. "We look forward to working together towards a very successful Paralympic Winter Games in 2018.” The meeting covered a range of topics including observations from the London 2012 Paralympic Games, the organising committee structure, the Games Foundation Plan, sport, accessibility, venues and infrastructure, marketing, broadcasting and communications. And importantly, the development of the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic emblem that will be the branding of the Paralympics was discussed during a parallel meeting. The Paralympics in PyeongChang will take place between March 9-18 in five years time in 2018. http://www.sportsfeatures.com/olympicsnews/story/50034/pyeongchang-2018-ipc-praises-both-the-quality-of-the-organizing-team-and-the-progress-made-for-the-paralympics
Gangwon
http://www.sportsfeatures.com/olympicsnews/story/50020/pocog-marketing-director-lee-talks-about-his-billion-dollar-marketing-plan Some snippets from this article about Pyeongchang's marketing plan. Looks like the logo should be introduced in about two months: Marketing Seminar POCOG is also preparing for a national specialized marketing seminar and the timing could be end of March or early April. Lee is especially excited to get the ball rolling and noted, “We’d like to invite any potential local sponsors from all of the tier categories. We’d like to provide them the information and meaning of Olympic Marketing and the benefit that we can provide them. There will also be general information about the Olympic Games so they can become familiar with the big picture.” Chung added, “The Olympics is one of the best and most well-known brands in the world. Becoming a part of the Olympic Family is a privilege, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.” “We’d like to invite someone from the IOC TMS and one or two speakers from the Top Sponsors who can talk about their involvement. There maybe someone from Samsung as well as they are Top Sponsor.” “It is designed to be a useful workshop where we can explain the meaning of Olympic marketing and how to exploit the sponsorship and the benefit packages that POCOG will provide for them. That way they will be well informed of the value of becoming an Olympic sponsor,” he added. Merchandise and Mascots Lee said that POCOG merchandising will be launched in three steps, the first being the end of this year for domestic merchandise. “The primary objective is to launch and brand our new emblem which might be end of April or the beginning of May.” He added, “The second being 2015 when we launch our official mascot through a tender process and maybe a public vote. We may have a couple of mascots too like Sochi.” In the meantime Olympic fans will be waiting eagerly to see the brand new exciting look for the PyeongChang 2018 winter Games.

runningrings
I think 2018 will be great. Its the Winter Olympics, in the post-Beijing era, not the Asian Games or 1980's Summer Olympics, when mass stadium spectacle was still in its relative infancy. I predict Sochi to deliver a huge, Summer Olympics style spectacle, and I think 2018 might be more of an intimate throwback, perhaps an Asian Lillehammer/Albertville - especially with the Albertville style Ceremony arena. Gangwon
Korea beat Hungary at the division 1 group A hockey tournament. Hungary was in the top division only three years ago. The Korean victory over Hungary was epic, coming back from a 4-1 deficit after 2 periods. What a shame that Korea would end up losing the next game to Japan, a game which Korea had dominated, only to be let down by their goalie. Assuming Korea loses to Kazakhstan, the Korea-Britain game is now crucial to see who can stay in the Division 1A. Gangwon
Thanks Int, I've been busy lately. As suspected, with Korea losing to Kazakhstan 4-2 today, it boils down to tomorrow's showdown. If Korea can just hold down a tie until the end of regulation time, they will stay up. gotosy
PyeongChang making good progress on journey to 2018 19/06/2013The International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s Coordination Commission for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games today wrapped up its second visit to the city in the northeast of the Republic of Korea by praising the progress being made by the local organisers.Following two days of meetings, the Commission, led by IOC Executive Board member Gunilla Lindberg, underlined some of the PyeongChang 2018 Organising Committee (POCOG)’s recent successes and looked positively on some of its upcoming milestones and planning.Speaking at the end of the meeting, Commission Chair Lindberg commented, “We’ve once again seen good progress from PyeongChang 2018 and an excellent team effort from the Organising Committee, all levels of government, and the Korean Olympic Committee (KOC). Delivering the Olympic Games can be achieved successfully only by working as a single unit and our Korean colleagues have shown that unity once again on this visit. mattygs
Not alone. i'm a fan also - but we're the minority! I quite like it in the mono colour form like on the backdrop shown in that picture, it's the full colour version where it looks abit off. I think the logo will look ok when featured in one colour, like the grey at various points of the website.
