The "international" Rio And one of our dangerous neighbors: They are all welcome!

- Did you say fruit, candy or girl?

Subway in Rio with decoration for the World Cup

They're not making it up. They're quoting Valcke and Ronaldo.

First, Ronaldo is not the spokeman of Brazil... Right now, I can claim without any fear of being wrong, most of Brazil hates him. Just as much as Pelé.

Both were great players (and both are truly idiots when speaking - note: I'm a supporter of Santos, where Pelé played).

This is your Ronaldo, six months ago... Just turn on the subtitles in English.

"I'm sure all investments have been done"

"A World Cup does not happen with hospital. We must build stadiums or there won't be any World Cup. You must decide what you want, buddy."

Yeah, Athensfan, Ronaldo is the one to take on count.

Secondly, Valcke is a coward. Why doesn't he act like the link you posted during interviews to Brazilian media?

(Go ahead, the interview is in English. Which one is the real Valcke?)

Glad to see Preparations progressing. Arena Sao Paulo is looking better day by day, shame the lining won't be done until after the Fifa World Cup and a shame the Retractable Roof won't be done on the Arena Baixada in Curitiba until after the Fifa World Cup. Main thing is, the Pitch is ready, the Stands and Seating Areas are ready, the Food outlets are ready and most of the Roof is ready in Sao Paulo. Roll on Thursday 12th June 2014!

I still don't understand how certain countries like Greece, Italy or Brazil can delay such commitments. Is that a Mediterranean cultural issue?

Somehow you are right.

Have to do with latin bureaucracy.

FIFA presented this tuesday the official vehicles which will transport the teams and others involved in the World Cup. Each of the 32 teams will have a custom bus with its colors, flag and slogan, chosen after internet voting open to the public. "Get ready! The Hexa is coming!" Says the phrase in the Brazilian vehicle.

Curiously, the engine of these buses are Mercedes Benz and the bus itself is made by Marcopolo, the giant bus company from Brazil

I thought it was Hyundai. I mean the sign does say "Hyundai FIFA cars" and Hyundai is a sponsor.

But they don't have truck/buses plant in South America

And Brazilian govt is very restrictive about bus trucks imports, since Brazilian industry is doing great about them

Only Mercosur partners can sell buses and trucks without crazy import taxes

Any details on the opening ceremony (other than the exoskeleton thing that's been publicised already)? Only a week to go, they can't be far off rehearsals starting :)

More than 600 dancers are training hard to delight the world at the opening of the World Cup FIFA 2014.
The ceremony will show the diversity and beauty of Brazil before the local team play their first match against Croatia , in the Arena Corinthians in São Paulo .
"The opening ceremony is a tribute to Brazil and its treasures: the nature, people and, finally, the football. It'll be spectacular, everyone is motivated" says artistic director of the show, the Belgian Daphne Cornez after leading most of the trials that began in April.
"Sometimes they have fatigue because of the repetition in the tests, but all participants keep the smile on his face. It's amazing".
Each of the treasures highlighted by the performance is artistically represented by characters and props. The main element is a "living " central ball.
This ball has more than 90,000 LED clusters with 7000 nits of brightness and moves around the pitch. The ceremony will last 25 minutes, but organizers estimate that every minute of the show needed 20 hours of artistic preparation.
Also in the cast, who will perform voluntarily, there are acrobats gymnasts, trampoline perfomers, capoeiristas and stilt- stick. After the artistic presentation, the show will end with the performance of the official song of the FIFA World Cup , "We Are One" by rapper Pitbull, singers Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leitte and Olodum drum band.

A TV report with video footage of the rehearsals.

This must be great!

Exhibition at Museum of Football makes a joke and shows how it would have been if Brazil had won all the World Cups

http://agenciabrasil.ebc.com.br/geral/noticia/2014-06/exposicao-brinca-com-imaginario-popular-e-traz-brasil-campeao-de-todas-copas

The exhibition Brazil 20 Cups at the Football Museum in São Paulo, recounts the history of every World Cup, but in the way most Brazilians like they had ended: with Brazil winning all the cups.
"The exhibition aims to honor the Brazilian participation in World Cups. Brazil is the only team that participated in all editions of the World. To do this, we tell the story, not exactly how it happened, but that story all Brazilians dreamed to tell everybody: Brazil champion of all World Cups" said the director of content of the Football Museum, Daniela Alfonsi .
The event have a fake documentary, a 12-minute film called "Brazil Champion Forever", directed by Henrique Goldman and script by José Roberto Torero. The movie shows, playing with the Brazilian imagination, how the national team became the champion of each one of the world Cups. Journalists, writers and players were interviewed, among them Gerson (present in the WC of 1966 and 1970), Edu (1970 ), Alemão (1986 and 1990) and Pepe (1958).
Historical objects of the cups can also be seen in the exhibition, as the blue shirt from 1958 Final match that belonged to Didi, a replica of the Jules Rimet trophy - the one that was taken directly from the original, allegedly stolen and melted in Brazil in 1983 - and the balls used in late 1958 and 1962.
The exhibition runs until September 7 at the Football Museum located inside Pacaembu Stadium in Sao Paulo.

At least they will use Southern state typical dances (based on German and Italian ones), and this will be a first for international TV.
