Good....!!!

Blatter is such an idiot. He is putting it to a vote to move to 2022 World Cup to Winter, which will completely ruin at least two seasons of European domestic football to placate a country which has no place hosting a World Cup.

Then he has to gall to try to take the World Cup off the majority of people's screens in the UK. So we wouldn't even be able to watch the fun unfold in Qatar that we'd sacrificed our football season for.

Don't think so Mr Blatter. Well done to the European Court.

Brazil Says Its Right Choice for 2014 World Cup

Brazil's government defended the country as host of the 2014 World Cup on Thursday, a day after FIFA President Sepp Blatter warned that recent protests meant it might have been the wrong choice.

More than one million people took to the streets during last month's Confederations Cup — the warm-up for the World Cup — angry at Brazil's poor public services, contrasted with almost $14 billion spent on the World Cup.

About the same amount will be spent on the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

"The success of the Confederations Cup proves the correct choice of Brazil to host the World Cup," the sports ministry said in a statement to The Associated Press.

Speaking in Austria, Blatter said Wednesday if the protesters returned next year during the World Cup, FIFA would have to consider whether it made a mistake by giving the tournament to Brazil. Protests took place at all six Confederations Cup cities.

"If this happens again, we have to question whether we made the wrong decision awarding the hosting rights," Blatter told German press agency DPA.

FIFA has verified Blatter's comments were accurate.

FIFA has acknowledged it spoke with Brazilian officials after the Confederations Cup final, which closed with police and soldiers firing tear gas, shock bombs and rubber bullets to keep thousands of protesters away from the Maracana stadium. Brazil defeated Spain 3-0 in the final with tear gas wafting through the stadium during the first half.

Blatter said he would discuss the protests when he meets Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff in September.

"We didn't do a political debriefing, but we did emphasize the fact of this social unrest being there for the entire duration of the Confederations Cup," he said. "The government is now aware that next year the World Cup shouldn't be disturbed.

"To me, these protests were like alarm bells for the government, the senate, the parliament. They should work on it so that this is not going to happen again. Though protests, if peaceful, are part of democracy and therefore have to be accepted ... we are convinced the government, and especially the president, will find the words and the actions to prevent a repeat. They have a year to do so."

In its statement, the sports ministry also emphasized the freedom to protest.

"As for the demonstrations, Brazil is a democratic country that guarantees its citizens full freedom of expression."

In April, FIFA's top administrator Jerome Valcke suggested "less democracy is sometimes better for hosting a World Cup."

Small street protests have continued in Brazil after the Confederations Cup, and security officials are bracing for the arrival Monday in Rio de Janeiro of Pope Francis for the Catholic Church's youth festival.

Blatter is an asshole. In any true democratic country people has the right to protest, and you can't threat the country to take away the WC just because they're reclaiming something.

This guy is either a bloody idiot or just a professional troll. For the love of god, please, take him away from FIFA now and put him on a retirement home.

Blatter and his pupil Valcke spent the last two years saying a lot of **** about Brazil (kick in the ass stuff, "we are worried", asking useless requirements that increased a lot the cost of stadiums, that useless episode with Sao Paulo city venue). The patience of Brazilian people with Fifa has gone a long time ago.

We are spending tons of money to get not kind words from them. As someone said, Fifa have not been a partner.

What is Blatter waiting for after years saying and doing a lot of bullshit about Brazil?

You can clearly see Brazilians are not mad with IOC. And Blatter can be sure he will be booed everything single time he arrives in a stadium around here. He can complain since now.

A ordinary and already pre-schedule visit of Mr. Valcke to 3 stadiums in Brazil became a "inspection visti because the rumors about the readiness of Brazil"...

International press keeping the bad agenda against Brazil.

Brazil presses for lower hotel prices at World Cup

SAO PAULO (AP) -- Brazil's tourism board said Tuesday that it has officially told FIFA and hotel operators to negotiate lowering prices during the 2014 World Cup.

The request came just days after a study showed that room rates will be up to 500 percent more expensive during the World Cup in some hotels offered by the FIFA-appointed agency MATCH Services.

The tourism board, known as Embratur, said MATCH and the hotels need to find a way to reverse the "stratospheric increase'' of rates announced for the World Cup period next year.

MATCH said it had not yet received the request, but would "welcome any attempt the government would make to help us lower prices and would fully support such initiatives.''

In the document sent to FIFA and the hotel operators, Embratur also said that MATCH should change the current policy on blocking rooms and should reduce its mark-up rates.

"We propose that the companies involved conduct new rounds of negotiations to lead to a restructuring of the prices,'' said the document obtained exclusively by The Associated Press. "We reiterate that FIFA/MATCH charges mark-up rates of more than 40 percent on the amount contracted with the hotel, something that contributes decisively to the increase of the already high rates.''

MATCH reached agreement with nearly 800 hotels in Brazil right after the country was picked in 2007 to host next year's World Cup.

Brazil's Forum of Hotel Operators said through its press office that it received the Embratur document calling for changes in the World Cup rates. President Roberto Rotter, who is named in the Embratur document, declined to comment.

The tourism board had already notified Brazil's justice ministry, which is responsible for handling consumer rights issues.

Embratur said it wants to negotiate better prices in part because it's afraid that excessive rates during the World Cup may hurt Brazil's tourism in the long run.

"We want to guarantee economic success and a legacy for the country that goes beyond the 2014 World Cup,'' it said.

The Embratur study found increases of more than 100 percent were planned at hotels in all 12 host cities. It researched prices announced on booking websites, the hotels' sites and FIFA's official webpage.

"As of yet it is totally unclear to MATCH Services on what criteria Embratur has been comparing rates as we have not been consulted in this matter,'' MATCH said.

The Swiss-based company said it does not regulate any prices, saying that charges are set "by the hotel owners and other tourism stakeholders.''

"From a contractual perspective, there is nothing to prevent hotels from lowering their room rates to MATCH and MATCH would readily pass on the benefit of any such reductions to its customers,'' the company said in a statement. "However, we believe that in the vast majority of cases hotels are already providing room rates for the FIFA World Cup that are in line with the rates they achieve outside premium periods.''

MATCH is primarily responsible for contracting and delivering accommodation for the FIFA community, including its officials, teams, delegates, guests and staff. It also sells rooms to FIFA's commercial affiliates, the media and customers of the official hospitality program.

Rooms are offered to the general public through the FIFA website operated and maintained by MATCH.

"MATCH is merely providing an option to fans,'' it said. "Its main mandate is to cater for the FIFA community.''

Yeah, I knew that, some weeks ago I asked my sister in law brother how the works were going in Manaus because there was a report on some portuguese tv channel that the Manaus stadium was lagging behind and he has inside knowledge as he works on that company.

As you can see in the picture taken 1 month ago... The stadium is entering in the final part of works

Things are coming along nicely and everything will be ready on time. And the world press will still find things to criticize because that's what the media does. To all our Brazilian friends here, please don't be disheartened by what you read, they do it to everybody and since you have the two greatest sporting events on your soil in the next three years you are getting a double dose of their venom. Stories like that make for eye-catching headlines and sell newspapers and direct eyes to their websites which pleases their advertisers. That's what journalism has become.

Funk version! Much much much better, with the dance of the Passinho! Great choreography, too. Hopefully neymar will showcase his dancing skills after his goals on the WC.

I'm already training. I can do the refrão's choreography in a very slowed motion, lol. Hopefully I'll learn to to it on FF motion 'till the WC.

Do you dance the "Passinho", Mr. Danny?

The Carioca Funk is Rio's greatest contribution to mankind. Bar none.

I think Funk Carioca have good and bad things.

No, I don't like dancing, despite being a big fan of electronic music.

Passinho is really cool, would be a nice thing to show to the world in 2014.

The best post about the media I read here.

Couldn't agree more, journalism became something nasty all around the world, and this include Brazilian media too.

But the problem is not what media writes or show, it's what people understand from inaccurate news reports...

The passinho clip Catra posted is really cool! Amazing the locations they used to film, in Rio. All of them are not the same-old same-old footage of Rio.

That's made the clip very special for me.

Again:

Passinho is too similar to the Melbourne Shuffle

They follow the same style of fast moving individual dancing, but Melbourne Shuffle uses more space, meanwhile Passinho is more centered in a small square around the dancer.

Both are nice.
