Bezzi
I agree... Probably FIFA will allow Curitiba to have few more weeks to deliver the stadium... Now you can put Sao Paulo on that list too. The stadium was almost ready but should go back about 5% of the percentage after the accident.

DannyelBrazil
Porto Alegre finalizing the roof structure Hopefully, you Brazilians are going to get some colour to that concrete block next year Brazil is the gray-concrete country, unfortunatelly.... And this is something I hate a lot here. And the marvelous Dunas Arena in Natal, what a stadium!!! Corinthians Stadium before the accident. The stadium will look great. munichfan
I relly love the openness (is that the right word here?) of that stadium, but weren't there plans for temporary stands during World Cup?
yoshi
Porto Alegre looks like an onion...anyway Danny, us foreigners define Brazil as a land of colour, yet you call it a land of grey concrete? I guess you'd know better than anyone but that's a bit surprising.
Victor Mata
Take the air pics of major cities for example: São Paulo is a concrete jungle and Rio's built area is a mix of white and gray with green at the borders. I won't even talk about Brasília...

I guess you'd know better than anyone but that's a bit surprising. Actually Brazil is a country of colors, but our massive constructions like subway stations, highways, bridges, monuments are all made of concrete. Victor is right when saying Sao Paulo is a jungle of concrete and Brasilia (with all those Niemeyer modernist buildings) is totally concrete-brutalist-colored. Our major cities had the main works built in concrete. Only now things are chaning. New subway lines have rainbow stations, stadiums are full of coloured seats and go on... And Victor, Rio is full of white, light pink and light gray buildings, but they are not as much external concrete-like as Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte or Brasilia. Maybe because of the sea, I don't know why.

Athensfan
I think when most foreigners think about Brazil they imagine Carnaval, Carmen Miranda, swimsuits on Copacabana and the birds and flowers of the Amazon -- all of which are colorful. I don't think most people think about the architecture which has a colder more industrial feel.

yoshi
Good grief, those old subways, can you even see the train? I guess it's because we don't see normal Brazil, only tourist Brazil. The grey has its place in Brasilia though, just don't touch the cathedral.
DannyelBrazil
Good grief, those old subways, can you even see the train? That's why they painted the trains' fronts in colors... Sao Paulo Rio de Janeiro
yoshi
That Sao Paulo station looks better, like London's DLR. Anyway, it's the stadium in Curitiba that looks most risky. All the others look like they should be ready by June. Good luck

The problem is to reach 100% by December 31st, the date FIFA gave to the stadiums to be ready.

DannyelBrazil
This very station, Alto do Ipiranga, is a very beautiful station... It's the beautiful side of Brazil international media likes to ignore... Both Sao Paulo and Rio newer stations are very nice... The Line 4 Yellow, from Sao Paulo, looks even futuristic to me
yoshi
Wow! They're better than many of the new stations iin London. Guessing there'll be plenty more in Rio over the next 3 years.
Palette86
My images of Brazil;Liveliness, cheeful people,Samba,Bossa Nova, passions...I think those things can be compared to a bright colours and primary colours..red,green,blue,yellow,whatever.I seldom know the buildings of Brazil. But some of the stadiums of WC are white. You brazilians do love buildings in white, don't you?It is very impressive to me that this color is always giving certain quietness in bustle,so even when you are busy or you feel down or sad those white buildings will probably make you feel at ease and relaxed. If a couple meet here(green passageway) for their date, boyfriend and girlfriend looks like alien each other!
DannyelBrazil
Actually Brazilians are very boring about colours... All of them have meanings for us, and people avoid colors in many ways to avoid pre judgements... Like, it's hard to find a guy using a pink tshirt or people dressing all white, since only doctors, brides or new year revelers wear all white... If you look our cars, most are black, white and gray (more than 80% of them). This coloured vision of Brazil is more related to Carnaval parties, soccer jerseys or bikinis... The daily basis life in Brazil is not as colorful as Miami...
