FIRST POST EVER!!!!

Start Talking about the real posibbilities Santiago has to host the Pan Am games for the first Time in history.

Let's make some review.

Chile could have hosted the Pan Am Games twice, but it rejected to do it due to financial and political reasons. In 1974 the Games were awarded to Stgo, but militar cup made to move the games to Mexico City, which just years befores hosted the Olympics.

In 1987 Chile again was awarded to host the games, but newly they were rejected by Pinochet goverment, giving reasons that the country was not in condition to afford the games since in 1985 a big earthquake hit the country and money had to be spent in reconstruction. This time the games has to be scheduled in Indianapolis, USA.

Now is the first time there is a real interest in Chile to host a intenational event.

Chile will host the 2014 South American Games, which will be a sort of test to measure the organization capacity, Many new bids are in proyects to be constructed with high panamerican standards.

During 2011 Games in Guadalajara, COCH (Comite Olímpico Chileno, Chilean Olympic Committtee) made lobby with PASO to host the games.

In 2015 Chile will host the soccer American Cup.

Chile has the strongest economy in the region and Santiago is the city with major international invest in South America. Chile is the most reliable country for bussiness in South America.

Santiago has 7 millions people. which make an interesting piont for media, sponsors and tourism...

Chile has the most modern comuncational system in South America with high standard in comuncation, phones and internet. The conectivity into the city is one of the best in South America, too with its current 5 subway lines (in 2019 will be 6), a modern bus transportation system and modern and high standars highways.

Santiago's airport is one of the best in South America and one of the safest in the entire world.

Santiagio is ready!... 2019 Games have to come here!!

A just made a correction. For 2019 Santiago will have 7 subway lines!!!. One of the new station will take people directly to the Olympic Park which is proyected to be built....

I really wanna see Santiago winning!! :D I have a lot of friends in Chile... And I've heared its a great city!

Do tou know if the Estadio Nacional will have a new roof?

No it doesn't. It has new seats and new trackfield, but not roof.

For the future, it's planned to build the "Paseo de la ciudadania" which is an Olympic Park with a lot of green areas and new sport complex. The future subway line number 3 will have the Maraton Station which is located just under the Estadio Nacional.

New complex are due to be built for the next 2014 South American Games such as the Multi Sport Complex and the brand new velodrome...

Hope they someday host the real thing, at least if Buenos Aires is not capable.

Argentina is bidding for 2019 Pan Am games, too with Rosario, the third largest city after Buenos Aires and Cordoba.

In Buenos Aires is scheduled to IOC meeting for 2013, where the Olympic Host for 2020 will be chosen.

Also, after this, Buenos Aires is planning to bid for the YOG.

Chile creates a comission for 2019 Pan American Santiago bid.

Adding to Olympic medalist in 2004 and 2008, Fernando González, a comission will be created to bring for first time in history the Panamerican Games to Chile, backed on the two previous oportunities Chile could host the continental games, but rejected the organization (1975 and 1987)

Now famous olympians, an architect and a publicist, among them, are in charge to give strength to the official bid that also is backed up on the new venues that are to be built for 2014 South American Games with high Panamerican standards.

It will be the first time Santiago and Chile would host the continental gamesm which are the second largest sport event, just after the Olympics.

Chile faces La Punta, Argentina; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Miami, USA; and Bogota, Colombia in the race to host the XVIII Pan Am Games.

Official News, taken from La Tercera. June 20, 2012.

La Punta, is the Santiago's Argentine rival to host the 2019 Pan Am Games.

After months of speculations, finally the Argentine Olympic Committee (COA) selected the city of La Punta as the official bid to host the 2019 Panamerican Games.

Rosario was also in the race to host the games but it was rejected and they selected La Punta instead.

La Punta is located in San Luis province in central Argentina. It is a new city, since it was founded just in 2003. It has an university that gives importance to the former urban complex. it has 13.220 inhabitants.

The election of La Punta instead Rosario, has tiggered certain trouble in Argentina since Rosario is the third largest city in Argentina, after Buenos Aires and Cordoba with 1.036.280 inabitants.

I don't have it totally clear. At least South American Games in Stgo are scheduled to take place in October 2014. That may be the same for the Pan Am Games (as Guadalajara did)

Why October? It's one of the most enjoyable season in the year since it's spring and it's not too hot yet (most sunny days and average temperature of 25°C)

Chile starts lobby in London to host 2019 Panamerican Games in Santiago

http://www.latercera.com/noticia/deportes/2012/08/656-475675-9-chile-inicia-en-londres-el-lobby-hacia-los-panamericanos-de-santiago-2019.shtml

News translation, Google translator!!!  :wacko:

Within the agenda of the Secretary, which will run until August 9, is to attend as many events involving Chileans. In fact, we had predicted lean out the Aquatic Center and the weekend expects to see live the triathlete Barbara Riveros and gymnast Tomas Gonzalez.

However, it is the only purpose of your trip. In parallel, has scheduled a series of meetings with suppliers and the organization of the Olympic Games. One of the main ideas is to gather useful information about the staging, which may serve in Santiago 2014. "In these Games has invested much less than in Beijing and that means they have occupied the ingenuity to lift, something that we want to learn," he said.

As the work to the South American Games already underway, will focus on the work of Santiago's candidacy to the Pan American Games 2019, a task to be performed with extreme care.

Wanted a woman

"The delegates are worried about other things in London. There is no room for negotiating or lobbying, "said Neven Ilic, president of the Chile Olympic Committee (car). While no official activities, London marks the beginning of the intensive work to strengthen his candidacy Chile.

Ruiz Tagle and Ilic added to Fernando Gonzalez, Ambassador of the bid, at any meetings.

The only date agreed in advance is a special meeting of Odesur, to be held on August 6 in the morning, the main theme will be the Games of Santiago 2014, but will be used to publicize the benefits of national choice. Although Ruiz Tagle arrived yesterday, has already made some progress in the work.

"Neven (Ilic) has made contact with several presidents and had dinner with the president of the federation of the United States. This instance is used to talk about everything, "said a senior source in the COCH.

In the coming weeks should know the name of the chief executive of Pan American Corporation, a position similar to that which holds Marcela Gonzalez Santiago to the South American 2014. The idea is that management is a woman with "political" over the technical and start working soon, because by the end of the year would be made the first trips in Latin America in search of votes.

The assembly decided to host the 2019 Pan American Games will be held in Toronto in October 2013. Miami, San Juan, Puerto Rico, La Punta (San Juan, Argentina), Lima and Bogota are the rivals.
