Sir Rols 1902
That brings us (for the moment) to 9th in the table. Oh, spoke too soon. Hungary just got gold, they go back to 9th, and we are now on 10th. Still, that's more like where we wanted to be!

dancingbrogues 31
Just goes to show, the death of Australian success has been greatly exaggerated. The fanbase is also great. Weymouth (sailing) loves the Australians and the Scandics. They spend all their money on drink and unlike the Brits, don't complain about the prices. The Germans and the Dutch refuse to spend money, have brought their tupperware all the way from Enschede or Wetzlar, and expect to camp for free. I thought British tabloids were rough, but the Aussie Press rip into their own better than anyone else.
Olympic Fan Darcy 322
Congratulations on our 3rd gold in sailing for Australia! Good on Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page!!! This brings Australia up to 9th on the tally!

That's because it is far cheaper in Weymouth than in Scandinavia and who can blame the Aussies for wanting to try real beer compared to what passes for beer at home.

Sir Rols 1902
Oh diddums ... truth hurts eh Mate, we sell out sh!t beer overseas to foreigners who wouldn't know better. We keep our good stuff at home. Better than the usually warm swill you tend to get served in the UK. anyway ... Mathew Belcher, Malcolm Page, Gold, 47 Class Sailing Was down in Brighton today - just got in to check the medal updates. Nice news to get back to. And congrats NZ for their saling gold. So sailing's been the most fertile gold prospecting site for us here, with three! Edited August 10, 2012 by Sir Rols

Guess you're not used to it cold, like beer should be. I agree. Fosters and VB are sh!t. But no true Aussie really drinks VB or Fosters. Only tourists. Alexjc 354
Yes a good regatta for Australia and NZ. It's a pity Australia walked away from the Americas Cup...How cool would it be if the smaller AC32 Catamarans were in the Olympics? Anyways, no one drinks their beer warm...eeeewww! dancingbrogues 31
Ian Thorpe is working for the BBC, is he known in Australia for being intelligent? There have been jokes about his rather left field fashion sense, his diva-esque put downs and general camp delivery, but most of all, his intellect makes the other commentators seem lightweight. He corrects their pronunciation of names and is sure of his facts, even in non swimming events
Sir Rols 1902
Don't suggest to him he's a diva or, well, "flamboyant" - unless you want a lawsuit! But, yeah, I did think his commentary was quite intelligent. Edited August 10, 2012 by Sir Rols
Sir Rols 1902
And so the final weekend dawns, and i think Matthew Mitcham is about our only real hope of improving the gold standing (not sure if we have any real chances in canoeing or sailing left). Faster 545
Yea had Hooker, but he flopped. Doesn't Australia have any decent mountain bikers? And Australia should win the elliot match race competition. Edited August 11, 2012 by faster
Sir Rols 1902
Ah, I just checked. Looks like Oz and Spain are racing off in the Elliot for Gold. Jeez, if it wasn't for sailing, our tally would be looking a lot sicker! Edited August 11, 2012 by Sir Rols
Olympic Fan Darcy 322
Many wouldn't have cared for sailing or had a huge focus on it in the past but now it's a huge focus.
Olympic Fan Darcy 322
Think we have a chance in the mens 50km walk? just over half way and are 1st, 8th and 9th.
