I could have gotten a Sydney torch and Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games baton a couple of years ago for 2,500-3,000.

I'd say 2,000ish is a good mark, anything less is considered a bargain!

I saw one on eBay recently, it went for around $1500ish, or maybe it was around 1600ish. The only thing was, it had a few flaws..... for one, the white paint on the bottom was chipped off and it was clearly burned (the top was dirty). Though I guess to some people, a torch is a torch...... But that's just me, I like my things in at least good condition.

Those Commonwealth games batons? Isn't there only just one used in the entire relay? Or are we talking about replicas?? Would be awesome to own one....

Found this Seoul 1988 torch on eBay:

There is a Sydney 2000 on at the moment too...

It might just be me but for some reason, when I look at the photos provided by the seller it looks like the torch is shorter then usual.... especially prominent in the second picture where the torch is open.

It honestly depends on where and when you buy them. The interyears between Olympics and not buying from a dedicated Olympic merchant.

I saw the SLC torch for 1100 when I was in Salt Lake a few years ago. Found the Sydney torch in a pawn shop in NYC for 1300.

Honestly the value of most torches is between 700 and 1500. With Athens, Beijing, Vancouver and London being on the lower end of the value range and Albertville and most early torches at the higher end. Albertville would probably be the only one I would say should fetch more the 3000 because it is, by far, the rarest of the modern torches.

Aside from one's questioning of the term "perfect condition", it's clearly missing one tube. The real deal is much longer than that. The design of the logo's "rays" on the hilt looks iffy. I think it might be just a replica small torch in the vein of Beijing and London's.

Here's a real one: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1972-Olympic-Torch-Munich-Original-Germany-Torch-relay-SIGNED-/111010964007?pt=AU_Summer_Winter_Games_Memorabilia&hash=item19d8c4e227

I recently obtained a Vancouver 2010 torch :D , and OMG, I love it to bits! Its my first torch. I actually felt light headed when I held it up (and struck a pose, behind closed doors.... ;) , lol), I never relised how big it actually is.

Questions for other torch owners...

How did you feel when you obtained your first torch?

How big is your collection ?

and whats the one torch you want (if you don't already have it) above all others?

1: Indescribably happy!!! because finally I have a real torch used in my country

2: My collection is short because this year I started collecting torches (but I collect pins and souvenirs for 3 years)

3: The other two versions used in Mexico 1968: the black one and the torch carried by Enriqueta Basilio in the opening ceremony... also I would like obtain the torches of Barcelona 1992 and Nagano 1998 because they were the first Olympiads that I watched

Did Helsinki make a torch for ill fated 1940 Olympics? After Tokyo was forced to bail?

Wow; that's a rare one in my book!! If it's authentic which it does look, that went for a bargain at US$763 altho I wouldn't buy anything from someone in Bulgaria.
