Athensfan 1081
Oh, like Joubert who should already retire, I think it would be doubly embarrassing for Plushenko to win outside the medals and then he will issue some sour-loser remarks again after. Not cool. It's better that he watch the competition holding hands with Johnny Weir and Joubert. They should just work as commentators. What a trio THAT would be. The supercilious egomaniac, the matinee idol and the nancy-boy. I can't imagine that they could hold a conversation together for five minutes. BTW, "nancy-boy" isn't intended to be offensive, but how exactly do you describe Johnny Weir? Everything that comes to mind sounds even worse....
Fox334 93
For Ice Dancing: Qualifying 3 pairs: -USA -Canada -Russia Qualifying 2 pairs: -France -Italy -Germany Qualifying 1 pair: -Great Britain -Ukraine -Lithuania -Azerbaijan Lithuania will almost certainly turn down their spot since the female skater on the team does not have Lithuanian citizenship and I do not believe they have another world class pair. Fox334 93
so, that makes it 6 dance spot at Nebelhorn? or still 5? Depends. In 2010 Lithuania declined their spot so late nobody was able to fill it. But otherwise it would be 6 spots instead of 5.

baron-pierreIV 1693
Just get Allison Reed (the 3rd Reed sibling). Now, she's dancing for Israel. Previously it was for one of the -stans. I mean, if there's a competitive Ice Dancing whore, it's Allison. She'll compete under any flag just so long as she can ice-dance!! China has found the heir to Chen Lu. Final groups on the ice. Skate order: Wagner, Murakami, Kostner, Asada, Osmond and Kim

intoronto 650
Australia is out unfortunately. They just miss out on the last spot. In total 22 countries qualify to compete in Sochi. Still one more chance left however. Edited March 17, 2013 by intoronto

olympian 4
Canada qualified a 11 skaters/pairs/ice dancers for Sochi, the most of any country. Next most is the US with 10, while host Russia qualified 9.
Fox334 93
Canada, France, Germany, Russia and USA qualify to compete at the Team trophy. Edit countries with 3 disciplines qualified can compete so Italy and China have also qualified. Japan is a pair in either event from qualifying as well. Ukraine, Estonia, UK, and Sweden are also one away. The qualification system is confusing, but it looks like qualification for the team trophy competition is only based on a silly ranking system. From there, the ten teams currently in a qualifying position are Canada, Russia, the US, Italy, France, China, Germany, Japan, Spain and South Korea.Edit: did I /ever/ mention I hate this damn qualification system? Fox334 93
Canada should win team competition easily. Lookin that way. However, the Olympics will be the very first time that format will be run at any competition (which is completly ridiculous) so there could be nice or nasty surprises. Faster 545
What is the format, I've tried to find it before but couldn't. South Korea? Where is their man, pairs and dance team?

I, too, am having a hard time understanding this Team event thing. Will the "alternates" be competing in it...therefore DOUBLING the number of skaters who will show up in Sochi?
