olympian
It was in Quebec City and Sochi the last 2 years. At least its a new Japanese City. The first 3 times (2000-01, 2005-06, 2009-10) were all staged by Tokyo.

baron-pierreIV
Boston has been chosen as the US Candidate for Worlds 2016. Other confirmed bidder is Helsinki. Boston would make a good Figure Skating World Champs host and setting in 2016. They'll probably get it; and then Helsinki hosts in 2017. Then Sochi in 2018 as is the ongoing pattern, it seems. ofan
Then Sochi in 2018 as is the ongoing pattern, it seems. That pattern wasn't followed in 2006 or 2014.
baron-pierreIV
That pattern wasn't followed in 2006 or 2014. 2006 was held in Calgary, a former Olympic host city. 2014 will, as of now, be in Saitama/Tokyo. But it's pretty much in an ex-Olympic city in another continent from the one holding the WOGs.
olympian
yup. since Helsinki will be pretty much a neutral ground. By the time 2016 Worlds roll around, it'll be 7 years since the last US Worlds and if Boston gets it, will be their first which is pretty surprising since most of the US skaters pre-61 crash were from the Boston area. IF Boston gets it, of course, the crash victims of 1961 will be remembered. And then look at the year a Worlds comes to their area (and I am sure with the recent events in Boston still fresh in everyone's minds)...it will be 2016. Is that some sort of spooky numerology or what?

Of course it's spooky. And 55 isn't really a "special" milestone year. It's usually 50, 60 or 75. So, I guess we just view numerology differently.
