thatsnotmypuppy Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 (edited) I thought $140 was a decent price Tominger - I'm surprised there were no takers. Feel free to scan it for the Issuu bid library Edited January 29, 2016 by thatsnotmypuppy Quote
Lord David Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 Here they are! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Olympic-Bid-Book-St-Petersburg-2004-Athens-2004-Olympic-Games-/172080680791?hash=item2810cecf57:g:5w0AAOSwqrtWoNXq Quote
thatsnotmypuppy Posted January 31, 2016 Report Posted January 31, 2016 Yeah they were posted last week for $140 but didn't sell. Quote
Lord David Posted February 3, 2016 Report Posted February 3, 2016 Perhaps I'll wait till Tom lowers the price, or are they a pointless buy since St Petersburg never made it to the shortlist back in those days where mini bid books weren't present (which ironically is the format they're going back to). Quote
thatsnotmypuppy Posted February 3, 2016 Report Posted February 3, 2016 That is what makes them collectible. Since they didn't progress any bid merchandise is rarer. Yes - pointless - but rarer. Quote
MissEurasia Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 Anyone know what Ostersund's 1998 Bid Book set is like? Quote
Clunkygirl Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Hi I'm looking to sell my 1992 Brisbane Bid Book. Please email your offer to clunkygirl66@gmail.com. I may list this book on eBay but wanted to give people here first option. I have had a book seller make me an offer but I'd rather the book go to a collector. Photos can be emailed if needed. Cheers Quote
thatsnotmypuppy Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Basically two hard cover books in a cardboard slip case. Quote
Lord David Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 There's a Paris 2008 set on ebay if anyone wants it. I already have those. 1 Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted March 7, 2016 Author Report Posted March 7, 2016 There's a Paris 2008 set on ebay if anyone wants it. I already have those. LD could you repost the pics of your 2008 ones? The ones you posted on the thread years ago dont show up anymore (expired i guess). This seller doesn't have the slipcase unfortunately. Quote
Lord David Posted March 8, 2016 Report Posted March 8, 2016 He's got a Berlin 2000 set, which I already have too! But this one is in original shrink wrapping and unopened. Minty! Quote
txt529 Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 Is the Paris one still on eBay. I am a new collector and I don't have any bid books at the moment but I would really like to start collecting them. If anyone could tell me how to get hold of them that would be much appreciated. Quote
tominger Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 Hi! Yes, the 2008 is still on ebay. It is a solid set and quite nice (although the container is missing). Some books are easy to find (like Berlin 2000). Otherwise watch out ebay or maybe contact your national Olympic Committee. Sometimes Bid books pop up on ebay. Quote
txt529 Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 Is there a possibility you could link it, sorry I just can't find it. Thanks for the advice I will remember to watch eBay to see if one pops up. Thanks. Quote
Lord David Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 Here you go: http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=18254367962&searchurl=kn%3Dolympic%2520bid%26sortby%3D0Port Moresby's bid book for the 2015 Pacific Games. Well you wanted an overpriced bid book now didn't you? Quote
tominger Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 Here is the link for Paris 2008: Would not pay more than 120 / 130 for it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Absolutely-rare-Olympic-Games-Paris-2008-bid-city-books-complete-set-of-3-books-/111927523381?hash=item1a0f667835:g:57gAAOSwh-1W3BdE Quote
txt529 Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 Does games bids still have a digital bid book library? Quote
MissEurasia Posted April 8, 2016 Report Posted April 8, 2016 My Östersund 1998 book came today, really happy with the quality of the book despite the overdue delivery and a few marks and folds... Really excited to see the venue plan and presentation! Quote
Lord David Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 Unfortunately this seller from Greece is not exactly selling the complete Athens 1996 bid book. He's selling the contents of the 6 sub file binders (the X amount of mini-books) and not the complete package.http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/222099154325?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITWhich is a shame, because I really want one and offered him an offer. He says he has this and one that was in a wooden package. Guess he wants to keep the presentation box on display for his exhibitions as people don't actually see the contents, plus he has another one. Quote
Lord David Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 http://www.thepropellergroup.com/portfolio/29Was this really Salt Lake City's 1998 bid books? In that leather bag? Makes the Lucite 2002 books look plain. Quote
thatsnotmypuppy Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Yes - that is the how the IOC member copies were presented. The National Olympic Committees and Sports Federations just got the standard slipcase version. Quote
Lord David Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 I guess they spent their money wooing the IOC for 2002, rather than just a elaborate bid book presentation and stetson hats. Quote
MissEurasia Posted May 23, 2016 Report Posted May 23, 2016 That Athens Guy is back selling another 1996 Bid Book Set - http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATHENS-1996-OLYMPIC-CANDIDATE-CITY-6-SUBFILES-FROM-THE-BIDING-FILE-/222126974295? ^^Seems to be the complete Set with the Box according to the Pictures provided. I'd go for it but timing kills it for me... Quote

I'd go for it but timing kills it for me... Nope. Quoted from the text. THIS AUCTION IS ONLY ABOUT THE 6 SUBFILES. THE PHOTOS OF THE HOLE BIDING FILE ARE ONLY TO GET AN IDEA AND NOT OF THE SELLING ITEM Quote
Lord David Posted May 25, 2016 Report Posted May 25, 2016 It's the complete set of books you get from the whole bid package. I contacted him if he was willing to sell the whole thing, but no, he's only willing to sell whatever X mini books there are.I guess he want's to keep the package for display purposes, as he's a regular in exhibits, I guess all you need to do is show off the box and not so much the contents.
