Olympic Fan Darcy Posted March 5, 2014 Author Report Posted March 5, 2014 Haha it's all good I had emailed the person but it was a bit out of my price range. Good luck!! Quote
mr.bernham Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Haha it's all good I had emailed the person but it was a bit out of my price range. Good luck!! Thanks Would $200 plus postage be good for Melbourne? Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted March 5, 2014 Author Report Posted March 5, 2014 Haha i'm not too sure, LD would know seeing as he has the books. Quote
thatsnotmypuppy Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 I paid $300 for my set back in 2001. So $200 is a good deal. Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted March 5, 2014 Author Report Posted March 5, 2014 Hmm interesting. I have always wanted the set. Ah well, good luck Mr Bernham! Quote

Lord David Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 I paid $300 for my set back in 2001. So $200 is a good deal. Paid 500 for mine, English version. Suitcase had no logo sticker on it. 1 Quote
thatsnotmypuppy Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Mine has the suitcase with the sticker - however the ribbon 'handle' was pretty frayed. 1 Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted March 5, 2014 Author Report Posted March 5, 2014 The owner said these ones come in a boxed cloth folder. I've asked for pics. Quote

Olympic Fan Darcy Posted March 5, 2014 Author Report Posted March 5, 2014 I think so. They're from Australia, makes it much more appealing with cheaper postage. Interesting Quote
tominger Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Well 200 bucks is not pricy for such an old and obviously well done Bid Book... Quote

tominger Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 Uff... Finally found the Torino 2006 Bid Book on ebay. And bought it. 600 Dollar. I am crazy and need a drink. But I always wanted to have it and searched for nine years.... 2 Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted March 17, 2014 Author Report Posted March 17, 2014 Oh wow congrats! Can you post the link? Quote
Lord David Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 I would have wanted a physical Torino 2006 bid book, I got the digital one. It would have gone well with the Torch. Quote
tominger Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 The digital Version was also included in the Official Report (in parts and in the Torino 2006 Layout and Branding). This is why I bought it. They also produced a Paralympic Copy additional to the Bid book - nothing special but I got it as well. I will post pics when I have it Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted March 17, 2014 Author Report Posted March 17, 2014 The Melbourne bid books arrived!! They are amazing, I absolutely love them! Quote

Lord David Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 Imagine how different Melbourne could have been, even in 1996. The Melbourne Exhibition Centre opposite the Royal Exhibition Building. No new Northern Stand for the MCG. The other existing stands (Member's, Olympic, Ponsford) would have been heavily renovated. Melbourne Museum perhaps located where the Melbourne Exhibition Centre is now. The Crown casino complex hurriedly built and completed in time for the Olympics. Spencer Street Station (Southern Cross) receiving some cosmetic upgrades and not a full upgrade like for the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Flinders Street Station receiving minor renovations and overall cleaning. No Federation Square, with perhaps an Olympic Square located in its place. Docklands being mostly residential, and not mixed residential/commercial. Well here's to another bid! 1 Quote

tominger Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 I just bought my Melbourne Set on an auction site and I am excited how they look like. Additionally to the Torino one, I also will get Sevilla and Buenos Aires 2004 this month. An expensive month it is :-/ Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted March 18, 2014 Author Report Posted March 18, 2014 Wow congrats! Was that the $150 melbourne bid books? I had seen them but wasn't sure of how much postage was. I got the Melbourne ones for $200 including postage. Finally found the ebay link of the Torino ones and they look amazing! Where did you find Seville? I had seen Buenos Aires on that site as well. Congratulations! You should definitely take pics of all your bid books together haha Quote
tominger Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 Yes, it was the 150 Dollar Set. The Torino 2006 ones are not that well, as I have their additional Paralympic Copy and it is lousy as all of the 2006 Bid Books (except Sion). But I will post pics when I have them Quote
