Bid books

Recommended Posts

wonder when it'll arrive, and i'm really tempted to bid on the Paris bid book 2012

What do you think? worth it

Worth it! I already have one!

And if complete, it should have the PDF files on disc, so you don't really need to open the books and you can keep it on display. :P

Just in time for London 2012! :D

^^ I shouldn't expect the Paris 2012 ones to go for over 200-300 bucks at the most. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes under that.

However, if you do lose, try this French dude http://myworld.ebay.com.au/olympic75&ssPageName=STRK:MEFSX:SELLERID&_trksid=p3984.m1543.l2533

When he decides to list some items again, you might find the Sion 2002 and Salzburg 2014 books at bargain prices (no one has ever bothered to buy them last couple of "dozen" (- probable exaggeration) attempts to sell them).

Wow now up to $505 must be pretty good

Someone must be really desperate or one of those "once I bid, I must have it no matter the cost" type of people.

Which is interesting because most peeps say that it's not as professionally produced as the likes of the Rome or Stockholm books.

I got my Sydney 2000 bid books for around the 350ish mark, Those books had volume 1 with a slightly nasty crease on one of the corners (still readable, just not really nice to look at, mostly cover affected). If I see another Sydney 2000 books in better condition, I might just try for those and sell my copy.

Thatsnotmypuppy once said that someone offered 2000 bucks for his 2000 Sydney books. :o

^^ That is not the Paris 2008 bid book. It might have been the Applicant File, but that also seems unlikely. Most probable answer is that it's just bid related material produced for the bid (hence the inclusion of Spanish). Not worth 50 bucks

This is not either the Paris 2008 Bid Book or their Applicant File !

It is just an international promotion document.

Yes, but this is a winning bid book... so it will always go higher than a Rome or Stockholm one....

SwissO, you live in the place where these bid books are all so common, care to link us to some? Or purchase yourself and then sell on ebay? Or sell bits of your own collection?

Do you even have any such bid books? :)

Oh and the fact that Athens 2004 is a winning bid book is besides the point.

Athens 1996 was less professionally done, but if you can find a nice crisp clean and fully complete (with videos) bid file, then it should sell real good.

Athens 2004 is really a boring Book. But as Swiss said, it is a winning book. I think it will sell for 800-1000 Dollar. I know that there is a greek collector who buys anything collectable related to the Athens games - for almost any price.

Maybe the Athens book is that boring, because Athens decided late to submit a Bud for the 2004 games and they had less time than the other cities. They submited nearly the same concept as for 1996 - so they did not really improve their concept. And the book is also not that rare, it pops up on eBay quite often, while the other not successful bids are difficult to find.

The Paris 2012 is quite nice, although its not that good as New York 2012, London or Madrid. But it is still a nice copy.

I have several bid books and some applicant files, but I'm not selling them....

Annecy 2018, Pyeongchang 2018, Chicago 2016, Rio 2016, Sochi 2014, Salzburg 2014, Paris 2012, Madrid 2012, Paris 2008, Sion 2006, Lille 2004, Sion 2002, Berlin 2000, Nagano 1998, Lillehammer 1994, Lillehammer 1992, Paris 1992, Calgary 1988, Los Angeles 1976, ...

Even living close to Lausanne (Vevey) it's difficult to find some bid books... my main question is where are going all the bid books received by IOC ! Each bidding city is sending 100 copies to the IOC in addition to send one directly to each of the IOC members... where are finishing those 100 copies....

The Salzburg Book is a bargain. I don't think he will lower the price and it is a nice one. SwissO: I can't send you any messages :-(

Guess we'llseemight bid in a few months if Norwood.

You messaging him about bid books? Sorry I'm just fascinated by them, what's Paris 1992 like

They're cheap it's the postage that annoys me almost same price as the item

Yes the postage is always high unfortunatly. But the Salzburg set is worth the price, although the Sochi set is the best 2014 set. I have not seen Paris 1992, I just collect the books from 2000 on and got them all from 2004 - 2018, except three.

I wouldn't mind getting the Toronto 2008 bid books if they ever showed up. A good mix of futuristic, class and tackiness all in one!

A big difference from their 1996 bid books.

I hope any future Toronto bid books will follow some sort of suitcase setup.

Sorry I'm posting short things hhaha. Maybe if I ever go to those countries I'll buy them and not have to pay the postage. Where would be a hot spot for bid books?

I want Brisbane 1992 (English version, I assume like Melbourne they made 2 editions English and French, Sydney combined the 2 in 1 edition).

It will complete my bid books for the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Australian bids.

That's really awesome I'd love to have all 3 bu you said Sydney Is pricey and Brisbane is super hard to find same for Melbourne well I haunt seen any
