Olympic Fan Darcy Posted July 6, 2012 Author Report Posted July 6, 2012 That's a very nice brochure for the last minute lobbying action before the vote in Monaco ! Ah thank you, very pricey. That seller has heaps of olympic stuff but pretty pricey Quote
thatsnotmypuppy Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 That is ridiculous. It's just large format thick paper brochure that recycles articles from previous 'share the spirit' magazines and a few other bits and pieces. I got one on ebay in excellent condition about a year or so ago for $20. It is very, very rare though as they only printed a few hundred in each language - but its not worth $500. Quote

More than what I got my Sydney 2000 bid books for! (even though mine unfortunately has volume 1 with a bit of a crease in one corner) Definitely not worth it. Quote

After all, any knock offs can easily be sued by both the AOC and IOC, as well as being removed from circulation altogether. Quote

Olympic Fan Darcy Posted July 11, 2012 Author Report Posted July 11, 2012 Some bid books are up, old ones that have been uploaded but the seller decided to make the prices higher even though they didn't sell i think he thinks we are closer to the games people have more of a chance to buy. 100 pounds (including postage) or 170 bucks (including postage) seems a bit pricey to me especially because they dont have the cover. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/London-2012-Olympic-Bid-Books-3-volumes-/251103334707?pt=Non_Fiction&hash=item3a76ecd133#ht_500wt_1413 140 pounds with postage or 210 bucks for the montreal bid book idk seems pricey pretty sure it was cheaper the last time it was posted http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Montreal-1972-Olympic-Games-bid-book-report-/190700688067?pt=UK_Sports_Memorabilia_ET&hash=item2c66a592c3#ht_500wt_1413 Mexico pricey 250 pounds no postage or 379 bucks no postage dunno. these are aussie bucks not usa http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mexico-1968-Olympic-Games-bid-book-report-/190700688635?pt=UK_Sports_Memorabilia_ET&hash=item2c66a594fb#ht_500wt_1413 Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted July 25, 2012 Author Report Posted July 25, 2012 Anyone know about Manchesters bid book? Was it 1 book or 3 did it have a case? Quote
Lord David Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 Anyone know about Manchesters bid book? Was it 1 book or 3 did it have a case? I'm sure it must have been 3. You mean 1996 or 2000 or both right? Birmingham's 1992 bid books were 3 volumes (I think it was a choice of English or French edition). They included an annex file. There's one on sale on abebooks.com Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted August 11, 2012 Author Report Posted August 11, 2012 Yeah 1996, heres the link was tempted but unsure of it http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Manchester-1996-British-Olympic-Bid-Official-Book-RARE-/271021980674?pt=UK_Sports_Memorabilia_ET&hash=item3f1a2b3c02#ht_579wt_1397 i sent a message and this was reply Hi It would appear that there is just this one book. There is no dustjacket or slipcase with our book Quote
Lord David Posted August 11, 2012 Report Posted August 11, 2012 It's probably just bid related material made for the bid. After all, if IOC officials, NOC's and If's get the actual bid books and you don't want the public to get a hold of them, you simply produce an accompanying bid document, giving a basic rundown of the bid. Olympic Fan Darcy Posted August 12, 2012 Author Report Posted August 12, 2012 Looks like someone has placed a bid on the 3 london 2012 books without the sleeve/slipcase. 95 pounds/$141 australian. Rather pricey but i guess not only is it the winning bid but the games are happening. Unfortunately no other bid books came up during the games which sucks. Quote
Lord David Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 I wouldn't say it's pricey. But without the slipcase, I don't want it. Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted August 12, 2012 Author Report Posted August 12, 2012 I wouldn't say it's pricey. But without the slipcase, I don't want it. Ah ok, out of my price range but agree no slipcase no deal. Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted August 31, 2012 Author Report Posted August 31, 2012 Another London 2012 olympic bid book without the slipcase??? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/London-2012-Olympic-Bid-Book-Candidate-File-/170903276302?pt=UK_Sports_Memorabilia_ET&hash=item27caa10b0e#ht_1382wt_1398 200 pounds, 305 aussie dollars! Olympic Fan Darcy Posted September 2, 2012 Author Report Posted September 2, 2012 Sydney 2000 olympic bid book for sale! Lucky i found this 843 bucks. Too expensive for me but I know you said it's pricey. I'm sure someone will buy it. http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=7977766496&searchurl=kn%3Dolympic%2Bbid%26sortby%3D1%26x%3D0%26y%3D0 Quote
Lord David Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 Seen that. Got mine for around 350 bucks, from a guy in NSW. The only flaw of that book is a slight creasing on one of the volumes (1 I think). If I ever find a better condition copy, then I might just get it and replace the one I already have. Quote
Olympic Fan Darcy Posted September 2, 2012 Author Report Posted September 2, 2012 Ah ok sorry to annoy you. I'm sure someone wants it haha Quote
paul92 Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 Is this the actual Paris 2008 Bid Book that was given to the IOC? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OO-PARIS-BID-BOOK-2008-OLYMPIC-GAMES-/390231730507?pt=AU_Summer_Winter_Games_Memorabilia&hash=item5adb9fa94b#ht_500wt_969 If so - what were they thinking. Looks rubbish and the orange writing with on that picture. No wonder they lost... Quote
Lord David Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 (edited) NO! I got the proper 3 file Paris 2008 bid book. This was just promotional material for the bid (like a mini bid book) hence the Spanish. Edited September 2, 2012 by Lord David 1 Quote
Lord David Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 Some Greek person (in debt ) must be desperate for cash. He's selling a NYC 2012 Candidate bid book on ebay for a ridiculous amount http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Olympic-Bid-Book-N-Y-2012-/251143909753?pt=US_Olympics_Fan_Shop&hash=item3a7957f179 Well the amount isn't too bad, but considering that the actual London 2012 books have been around going for the same price and that supposedly abebooks.com has a NYC 3 file bid book going for 40 bucks... http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=3406375581&searchurl=kn%3Dnyc%2B2012%2Bolympic%26sts%3Dt%26x%3D0%26y%3D0 Quote
