GBModerator Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Can anyone comment on whether the Youth Olympics will be televised in their country - what channels, times, etc.? Will it be available on the Internet or elsewhere? Who will be watching the Opening Ceremonies - or any of the Games?
munichfan Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 As far as I know, it won't be broadcasted here in Germany. But even in Austria you won't be able to see it live on TV. But I've heard on ORFeins and ORF SPORT + there will be a few highlight broadcasts.
Quaker2001 Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Does anyone know if it's being covered in the United States? I've looked on Universal Sports' website.. they showed the highlights feed each day in 2010, but I don't see anything this time around.
SwissO Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 For France, TV8 Mont-Blanc is the rights holder. http://afcos.forumactif.com/t429-jeux-olympiques-de-la-jeunesse-d-hiver-innsbruck-2012-tv8-mont-blanc-retransmettra-les-epreuves-en-france They will do some live covering (without any confirmation yet on exactly which events) and they will have 2 resume everyday. A daily news report at 19:30 and the official 52 minutes IOC magazine at 21:15 (recast the next day at 13:00 & 16:00). TV8 is a free aired channel in the French Alps, but nowdays is also available on internet (on their own website and through all internet providers), cable TV & satelites TV. http://www.tv8montblanc.fr/ I'm still looking for Switzerland.... But at least live broadcast will be available on-line on IOC & YOG websites !
Rob2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 As far as I know, no. If it wasn't for this website the whole thing would've by-passed me. The Summer version had a daily round-up on the BBC website if I remember correctly, and some coverage on CBBC, but this one I've heard nothing of.
Sir Rols Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Same down here - not a peep that they're actually happening.
intoronto Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 I think Sportsnet (Canada) will air highlight packages like how they did with the 2010 YOG.
Querque Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 As far as I know, it won't be broadcasted here in Germany. But even in Austria you won't be able to see it live on TV. But I've heard on ORFeins and ORF SPORT + there will be a few highlight broadcasts. That's correct. I've looked it up and ORF Sport+ will air the opening ceremony live and then highlights daily.
Rob2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Apparently Blue Peter are there. From BBC Sport: Teaming up with the @BBCBluePeter / @BluePeterTV team today - they're enjoying filming out @innsbruck2012 too! http://lockerz.com/s/174075599 https://twitter.com/#!/NickHopeBBC
bidpin2000 Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 In Australia there will be a 1 hour highlights package on the Channel 9 free to air channel "GO" at 4.30pm. I believe that this program is then repeated the following day at 7.30am. So it's nice to see there will be some coverage, even if it's just 1 hour a day. Cheers
Brekkie Boy Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 The BBC have highlights on the red button - first was tonight at 7pm which acted as a preview, but with no voiceover so lots of random scene shots then cutting to a random interview. Nothing from the opening ceremony either. Highlights is sufficient but I think putting the ceremonies on live - without commentary would actually be preferable - isn't too big an ask.
Durban Sandshark Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 I'm watching the official WYOG daily highlights show live online on TV8 Montblanc right now as I write this. There is a You Tube channel but no full sports events or highlights, let alone the welcoming ceremony. http://www.youtube.com/user/Innsbruck2012

olympic1982 Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 Oh, it is a shame!!! I want to watch the olympics and there is not broadcasting on the official page of the IOC and Innsbruck 2012. any idea? Thanks !!!

Durban Sandshark Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 There is a daily general highlights show on TV8 Mont-Blanc that uses male and female French commentators obscuring the default English used on the program.
Brekkie Boy Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 The BBC had a special edition of Olympic Dreams today focusing on the Winter Youth Games - but far more about the athletes than the action.
