intoronto
Keep in mind that venue was built in less then a year so the IOC should have confidence in Baku.

Rob2012
Eek @ that second photo! Why would anyone build a venue like that these days with a roof supported by columns?
munichfan
Eek @ that second photo! Why would anyone build a venue like that these days with a roof supported by columns? Well, in fact, there are some quite modern (just as Berlin's Olympiastadion) with columns and here it may be caused of too little time to build. Or it makes it easier to remove the roof if this stadium will be used as a football venue at any time. But yes, for eurovision it can only cause problems. Rob2012
Berlin's Olympic Stadium is a special case. The columns were the lesser of two evils during its renovation. Their installation enabled a new roof without damaging any of the historic stadium or spoiling its facade. There's no excuse for a new-build to have column restricted views in the 21st Century. Galandar
...There's no excuse for a new-build to have column restricted views in the 21st Century. Check the first page of this thread and see the construction status in mid November when they were doing some foundation works. Do you really think that 5 months of construction process is fine and there is no excuse to have anything like pillars or so?
