As Emilio said... "iremos por mas olimpiadas!!" do you think Guadalajara will be ready for the olympics?

No way. The Mexicans organization of Guadalajara 2011 was a flop. They had several issues, including selling tickets for the press area at the Closing Cerimony.

The only reason why RaƱa said it was the best PanAm ever was because he is Mexican and was behinf the Games the whole time.

"iremos por mas olimpiadas!!"

**sigh** Everybody's saying that now. Just because one city (Rio) got it due to the PanAms doesn't mean Delhi or Maputo or Guadalajara or Glasgow (sorry, Scotguy) will get it anytime soon. Toronto's another one who thinks just because they can stage 2019 over a very widespread area, automatically makes them Olympic-worthy.

Not likely.

I think the only PanAm hosts with a shot at joining Mexico City and Rio as Olympic hosts are Chicago, Buenos Aires, Toronto and Sao Paulo. The first three on that list have recent bids, but only Toronto's claimed more than 20 votes. I think winning a Games in the Americas will be more competitive in the future.

The difference being Toronto has the infrastructure and previous bidding experience. Toronto basically is showing to the IOC it can stage a games of big magnitude.

Hahaha i think the same.... Guadalajara isn't ready, but at least is Mexico's more logical choice. But Toronto OF COUSE!!! Toronto is ready to host the games now and in 2015 they just need to add sport venues.

Olympics? I think they're dreaming a lot. And we all know Guadalajara 2011 organization, despite they did a good job in the end after so many fears, it was still not better than Rio.

HOWEVER...they proved they can stage the Youth Olympics easily. Too bad they resigned in the end and let Nanjing got the 2014 ones. What a lost oportunity.

For reals? I think they are one of america's few cities to host the SOG.... By saying america im refering to the continent

Well they can host if awarded 7 years out. But now its a disaster.

BY 2020: $12 billion in two new subway lines.

Off course a new swimming pool, field hockey facility and BMX track. Only the BMX would be Olympic standard (the other two are small).

Venues would be needed for all other sports, granted they could be held in existing facilities such as the MTCC, Direct energy center, Acc etc.

Well Toronto isn't ready to host TODAY but Toronto is one of the cities that come up with a winnable bid with solid plans and backings. One of the safer choice for sure.

Off course and they could propose the most compact bid ever with all venues in the GTA (including soccer).

There would be a handful of venues that would be constructed regardless. Some of the current venues and venues being constructed for Pan Ams would be put into great use for an Olympic games as well such as training venues and preliminaries such as the Pan Am Aquatic Centre. I guarantee you Toronto will propose a brand new Aquatic Centre on the Portlands for their 2024 bid.

Off course, because the one in Scarborough is too small.

Haha, thats ok Baron. Glasgow will probably never host the Olympic Games. Maybe a World Championships or youth olympics, but the main deal is too big for Glasgow.

Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham or London will get the next UK Games

Mexico studies possible 2024 Olympics bid

A potential U.S. bid for the 2024 Olympics could face competition from bordering Mexico.

A political sports commission is seeking studies about the viability of a possible bid for the 2024 Summer Games, according to several Mexican media reports.

The group includes Felipe Munoz, the 1968 Olympic 200m breaststroke champion. The 1968 Olympics were held in Mexico City, the only time Mexico has hosted.

The U.S. Olympic Committee is considering bidding for the 2024 Olympics, narrowing potential candidate cities late last year to a group that reportedly includes Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and San Francisco.

Other potential 2024 bids could come from Paris, Italy and South Africa.

Bidding for the 2024 Olympics begins in 2015. The host city will be chosen in 2017.

Santo Domingo has the ideal cluster setup and a subway built since the 2003 Pan Ams. But of course they don't really want it. Could give a San Juan bid a run for its money, if they did want the Games.
