So, existing hotels for the 2020 bid:

8,000-10,000

Apartments:

10,000-20,000

As well as the proposed accommodation:

Hotels:

10,000-20,000

Apartments:

10,000-20,000

A media village would reduce the need for a major hotel undertaking.

Simply put, I think this would indeed be a great boost for Baku, perhaps a tad major undertaking with regards to accommodation proposals, but say in a similar vein to Rio (without the luxury of cruise ships).

Is it breaking news for you? I don't think so. Thus no need to make a big OMG out of it.

That is well-known that Baku's hotel capacity is still very low but it needs time to increase and it is rapidly increasing. In April-March 2012 we gonna have several new hotels in luxury and mid-class segments. Only from big names we expect the openings of Four Seasons, Fairmont and JW Marriott Absheron with a total number of some 700 rooms.
