Alexjc Posted June 7, 2014 Author Report Share Posted June 7, 2014 England v New Zealand tonight...History being made as this is the first time both teams face each other in a three test series plus the annual derby in Twickenham. At the IRB U20 RW Champs in Auckland last night, a portent threat to the future for NZ was the host nation going down to South Africa 33 - 24 in a Springbok forward pack dominated game. Only towards the end, and in desperation did the Young ABs crawl back to a more bearable loss. IMO NZ could be entering that autumn era of the natural cycle where things slide back for a bit. England really gave it and are NO pushovers. And they were understrength? Still this was NZs first test for the season and usually get a lesser team to hit first up!...Not A Superpower like England! ENG 10 - NZL 0 ...quarter way through... England still in control, shutting the All Blacks down...very strong defense and powerful attack. ENG 10 - NZL 3 ...at halftime... ENG 10 - NZL 6. England now losing discipline, yellow card. All Blacks a far different side from the first half. NZL 21 - ENG 13 Now the All Blacks pull away taking advantage of England one player down...Try converted (Ma'a Nonu) NZL 28 - ENG 13. England back at full strength. England fightback with a deserved but contentious try. NZL 28 - ENG 20 England final try but not enough! NZL 28 - ENG 27 FULL TIME... Both teams VERY VERY EQUAL IN INTENSITY. It's all in the wording, the TMO knew the ball didn't ground, so that now means the ball carrier's arm is an extension of the ball? Not since 1994 has this happened in Christchurch. England wearing a special jersey with the Earthquake Relief Fund logo on it. Christchurch misses out on top tier matches due to the temporary nature of AMI Showgrounds Stadium. England very strong against a Crusaders side without its current ABs on board. Eng 26 - Can 7 ...so far at halftime. Second Half underway...England first points. 33 - 7 Full time Eng 38 - Can 7 Proving that without a full strength team, provincial sides cannot compete but still a great spectacle for a region that seems to miss alot these days. But England had a very good set piece game...And there is still nothing in it. After England finally woke up for the second half. Fulltime NZL 36 - ENG 13. New Zealand clean sweep the series but not by a landslide and England will only ever get better and could even prove tougher in the annual Twickenham Derby in November. The South Americans beat Hong Kong 28-3 to book their play-off berth, while Russia saw off Zimbabwe 23-15. The Russians -- who made their debut at the 2011 tournament -- edged out Zimbabwe in the repechage semi-finals and will host Uruguay, who have appeared at two World Cups, in Krasnoyarsk on September 27 with the return leg in Montevideo on October 11. Being hyped up on both sides of the ditch but very much a pointer to next year. Australia has home advantage this year. And a team very much comming into form.
