Pixie_Victoria
Ronaldo beat Sweden after all. France,Croatia,Greece ,congrats on your tickets to Brazil! Thank you ! Congrats to Portugal too, I love this team and CR7 and was almost more tense for them than for team France. So glad they won, well-deserved victory. Really great for Algeria too, obviously a team I'm very close to (and close to France in general), I'll sure be rooting for them. Hope Switzerland & Cameroon go as far as possible too. It sounds like a great, promising, dream-like and exceptional World Cup, in the heaven of football, and organised by passionate people. Wow. Scotguy
Although only a friendly, Scotland's win over Norway, extends their unbeaten run to 4 games under manger Gordon Strachan. Things are starting to look a bit more positive for a return to major competition since 1998.

Faster
This is the first major tournament in a good long while that a Nordic country has failed to qualify. Just realized there will have to be a special draw during the draw and since the seeding was solely based on ranking I assume that the special pot country will also be based on ranking, therefore France will be drawn against Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay or Colombia. Alexjc
NZ national pride not dented at all by its football team being knocked out of next years tournament. After an abysmal year of embarrasing losses, sort of expected. There will be recriminations, and some are being leveled at Ricky Herbert. Another bug that Football NZ needs to address is the team's nik name, All Whites...naturally this was due to the uniform, but now seen as an awkward monniker in today's world for a team that is bottom tier in Football. NZ has a very large ethnic population and has a parallel Ethnic Cup that seems out of place in a country that is seen as inclusive, more so than Australia yet our football side seems white and very British accent prone. Points to ponder for the four year slog to qualify for 2018 which begins pretty much now.

Rob2012
Sweden captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic says the World Cup is not worth watching without him after their play-off loss. The Paris St-Germain striker scored twice against Portugal on Tuesday but Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick took his side through 4-2 on aggregate. Ibrahimovic, 32, said: "It was probably the last attempt to reach the World Cup with the national team for me. "A World Cup without me is nothing to watch so it is not worthwhile to wait for the World Cup."
StefanMUC
I wonder if he's ever considered playing for Bosnia (with his heritage, he probably could, even though born in Sweden) and is now fuming that they qualified and Sweden didn't... Durban Sandshark
Have noticed this is the first time in recent memory that no Scandinavian nation isn't going to the World Cup. Swedish and the Icelandic fans, to say nothing on the Danish, the Norwegians, and the Finnish, surely would enjoy Brazil. Unfortunate. NZ needs to focus on the youth and spend time together henceforth to build its international soccer game. Some of the players are past their prime. Not to mention build its offensive firepower. Would've been nice to see them in the World Cup. It just doesn't seem fair for a nation that only has a handful of pro level soccer players spread worldwide and in NZ and a domestic semipro league along with the Hyundai A-League's Wellington Phoenix (RIP New Zealand Knights, hopefully in the future Auckland will return) in that Australian-based soccer league to face a nation that has a deeper appreciation of soccer in its national culture, a very good World Cup pedigree, and with a tremendous depth of players around the world and a solid pro league of its own. Had Panama was facing the All-Whites instead, things could have been different, for the experience factor then sides with New Zealand. Had Croatia not won over Romania, we'd also talk about only one nation from the former Yugoslavia making it (Bosnia-Herzegovina).
Pixie_Victoria
Had Panama was facing the All-Whites instead, things could have been different, for the experience factor then sides with New Zealand. But rules are rules. If you were backing the all-whites, I understand your disappointment, and it would have been nice to see them in Brazi indeed. But the other intercontinental playoff was Uruguay / Jordan....Did you want New Zealand to play Jordan and Mexico and Uruguay to face each other ? And eliminate either Mexico or Uruguay right away , while making 2 much weaker teams play each other? That makes no sense. Hope to see NZ at the next one though, this is possible with a lot of work.
