Really surprised to find slums in Seoul!?

http://seoul-searcin...s-of-seoul.html

Interesting.

Wow, never seen this part of Seoul before

Seoul specially has slums, almost every citie does... Perhaps only Vatican City doesn't :P

Tokyo doesn't have any slums, and if you try to ask to Tokyoites, yes they'll show you some part of Tokyo that they think it's a slim, but if you check that area then you'll be surprised, how that areas is very developed, but for Tokyoites, they called as a slum area... :)

What sports will host that venue? It looks really modern ;)

Olympic events or in general? For the SOG it isn't suited 'cause it can't hold enough spectators (in fact, it may be used as a training facility). For the everyday use, you just have to watch the video. Those sports include football, aquatics, shooting and so on.

Black (as in African descent) and Azerbaijani? There's something you don't see everyday.

In his interview to Azerisport.com Chingiz Guseynzadeh, Vice-president of Azerbaijan NOC stated that Olympic Games is our great will and even in case Baku fails with its 2020 bid, we will bid for 2024, 2028 and so on. I am happy to see these ambitions and motivation B)

Why so? I also had a black friend in Baku B)

When I think of countries with Blacks outside of Africa I think: USA, Canada, Britain, France, Portugal, Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Columbia, Dominican Republic, Haiti, all of the Caribbean Islands (Jamaica, Barbados, Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago etc), Belize and Panama. Azerbaijan is one of the last countries I think of when I think of Blacks of African descent (and when I do, it's usually in football or track and field).

Well the countries you named have a big number of black due to some historical reasons. In our case maybe not in that large number yet some black people come to study or work. I see no point in being wondered or astonished about this fact :)

Another great news! Azersun Holding has started relization of its Dream Island project which takes place in Baku 2020 bid as the venue for golf:

Azersun Holding start construction of Dream Island mega-complex

Azersun Holding Group of Companies has launched mega project Dream Island, including residential, representation and entertainment sections. The complex will also have the region’s first golf field of international level.

An AH representative says that in 2012 the Group-hired American consultants are to finish engineering of complex Dream Island on the Apsheron Peninsula.

"The complex with area of 480 hectares differs by its advantageous location - 7 km from the International Airport named after Heydar Aliyev - and the level of planned services. The residential part of the complex will consist of villas and apartments, and representation part will enable to arrange state and international events. The core of the entertainment part will be the golf club with area of 200 hectares," Azersun’s rep said.

Civil (land) work has been already launched on the territory of the future complex. Full completion of the construction is expected until 2020. The complex is being built on the territory of the former stone quarry.
