baron-pierreIV
Migod, Baku is out-doing both Beijing and Sochi in this building frenzy. I should've bought stocks in construction companies in Baku. BTW, is there a separate Azerbaijan language, Galander? Or is it a variation of Russian that AZ speaks? baron-pierreIV
Doesn't Baku have slums? Baku looks too pretty and too spiffed up. No summer city has won w/o slum neighborhoods.
Galandar
Doesn't Baku have slums? Baku looks too pretty and too spiffed up. No summer city has won w/o slum neighborhoods. Baku has some old areas (Sovetskaya, Kubinka, Bayil, Black City, Khutor etc.) which were built in chaotic way and could be considered as slums according to Western standarts. Another issue is now those districts are under demolition or preparation for demolition. This cause some problems with people living in those areas. For instance Bayil, Khutor and Black City is under active demolition while works in Sovetskaya are expected to start soon.
